If you haven’t heard, Taylor Swift has recorded another album. While that’s too shocking, it is notable that it’s not a “Taylor’s Version”, and instead composed of all new music. Ahead of its release, Ms. Swift has been selling vinyl and CD versions of “The Tortured Poets Department”. Some of these include autographed photo inserts. As you can probably guess, these have been very popular with her fans, enough so that resellers are raking in easy money by flipping them.

Do you like Taylor Swift? If you’re anything like us, you should damn near love her. Her fans are pretty notorious for their devotion, and we’ve made tons of profit by reselling her merch to them at outrageous mark-ups.

The bottom line is simple: she has a lot of fans, and most of them have more money than patience. Even when she churns out massive amounts of merch it will still sell out fast and start trading hands on eBay.

Today, we’re looking at Taylor Swift’s next album, “The Tortured Poets Department“. It’s expected to release on April 19, so naturally her fans are in a state of arousal, anxiety, and shrillness.

Is the music any good? Probably, maybe, it doesn’t really make any difference to us. If you’re a fan or a hater you can keep it to yourself; we’re just interested in the money.

On Saturday morning, signed CDs and vinyl versions of “The Tortured Poets Department” started stocking on Taylor Swift’s webstore. CDs were $25, vinyl $50.

Whichever one you chose, the difference is minimal. Both editions came with an autographed photo of Taylor Swift. The vinyl versions came as a two disc LP. These first started stocking at 8 A.M. Pacific, and they were gone in a few minutes. We don’t know what the total stock was, but we’re guessing it wasn’t too slim.

And now for the fun part. You should know by now that whenever a product sells out this fast, to this many people, from this kind of artist, resellers are paying attention.

Right now, signed versions of “The Tortured Poets Department” are reselling for upwards of $200. What makes these interesting is that the CDs are actually selling for equal or even slightly more than the vinyl.

Generally, vinyl is the more popular and more valuable choice for fans. In this case, the TPD vinyl was double the price of the CDs at retail.

Taylor Swift does have a pretty good track record for collectable CDs though. Those two releases we mentioned earlier were both CDs, and a quick search through TikTok shows a ton of interest in Taylor Swift CD collections.

If there’s any conclusion to be drawn, it’s that you should always bet on Swifties. As much as they might complain about resellers, they have no problem lining our pockets.
