Taylor Swift Midnights Late Night CD: One Song Sells for $150

Taylor Swift is still continuing her conquest of the known world. With millions of fans, millions of plays, and millions of dollars, the 33-year-old superstar will likely be a fixture of pop music for decades to come. As you might have guessed, that kind of popularity also makes her a great target for resellers. A recent event-exclusive CD is a perfect example of this, as the tracklist includes one song that cannot be found anywhere else. Naturally, her fans have gone completely insane, and prices for the CD are ballooning.

The Midnights Late Night Edition CD

Following the release of her tenth album, Midnights, in October 2022, Swift produced a deluxe version of the album with input from her fans. More verses from Lana del Rey, additional collaboration with Ice Spice, you get the picture. Aside from being a chance to brush up on the music, she can also double dip on album and CD sales. Perfectly natural part of business.

There’s also a super-special super-secret version of Midnights. While the deluxe version of Midnights is dubbed the “Til Dawn” edition, there’s also the “Late Night” edition.

Now, this one is special because:

A) It has an unreleased song on it

B) It’s only available on CD

C) The CD was only sold at her New Jersey shows

Understandably, this level of exclusivity sprung on a fanbase of her size has created a stir. As of the publication of this article, the song “You’re Losing Me” has still not received a release on any streaming platform. The only (official) way to listen to it is by buying one of the Midnights Late Night edition CDs.

Because of the exclusive nature of the CD and the song on it, Swift’s fans are buying up CDs for remarkable prices. You can buy one at her shows for $10 after forking over $300 to $500 for a ticket.

How much is the Midnights Late Night edition CD reselling for? Around $150, with more than a few sales beyond that. Prices seem to be capping out at around the $200 mark.

Pretty nice, all things considered. One thing to keep in mind is that while the Late Night edition is an East Rutherford exclusive, she has a total of three stops planned. Yesterday saw around 30-40 sales of the CD, and it remains to see how many will sell after tonight and tomorrow’s shows.

There’s no doubt that the Midnights Late Night edition will be a neat find for a collector, but without a better idea of the total production and demand its hard to say anything about its value in the future. It could be nothing special, it could be a holy grail for Swifties; we’ll just have to wait and see. Still, if you happen to have tickets to one of her East Rutherford shows, definitely make your way to the merch counter.
