  • The Bob Ross “The Joy of Baseball” collection features a blend of traditional card designs and painting

  • Everything sold out and is now reselling for well over retail

Serious question: who doesn’t love Bob Ross? Psychopaths? Mass murderers? Art teachers? We can’t think of any sane reason to dislike the man, and Topps seems to agree. They just rolled out an unlikely collaboration: the Bob Ross “The Joy of Baseball” Collection. Featuring a smattering of today’s stars and yesterday’s legends, this is an incredibly cool set of cards for baseball fans and Bob Ross appreciators. Now that all of the boxes have sold out from Topps, we’re seeing tons of aftermarket sales for well over retail.

What's in the Topps X Bob Ross Collection?

“The Joy of Baseball” is a pretty great name for this collection, but what exactly does a Bob Ross baseball card look like?

There are two different versions of “The Joy of Baseball” collection. There are standard boxes for $200, and “Happy Little Boxes” for $25. Let’s talk about the standard ones first.

Every “The Joy of Baseball” box contains eight packs with twelve cards each. Every pack includes either a numbered parallel or short print card. Additionally, every box also includes two autograph variants of cards, as well as an exclusive paintbrush pen. For a full list of cards and their variations, check out Topps’ site here.

The cards themselves have a distinct design. The players are taken from photographs, but the backgrounds are all painted by Bob Ross, and feature his signature.

There are also some… special variations for the short print cards. Some of these are simply variant images, but the “Happy Little Accident” variation transplants Bob Ross’ afro onto a star player.

Of course, they had to add the man himself. The Bob Ross Flagship Super Short Print card features the poofy-haired painter on ultra-premium cardstock.

Yes, there are real Topps Bob Ross baseball cards out there somewhere.

This is without a doubt one of the coolest collaborations Topps has ever done. Hopefully we’ll see more crossovers between baseball stars and artists coming soon.

Topps Bob Ross "Happy Little Box"

So the standard Collector’s Boxes are $200 and include eight packs. If you weren’t looking to blow that kind of cash on the collection, Topps also sold “Happy Little Boxes” for $25.

These included one pack from the collection, with a 1:4 chance of having an additional autograph card. The cards in these boxes are the same as in the $200 boxes.

Topps Bob Ross 10 Box Case

On the other end of the spectrum, Topps also sold cases of 10 Collector’s Boxes through their website. There’s nothing crazy here, no extra perks, but you did get a whole lot of Bob Ross.

Topps Bob Ross 10 Box Cases sold for $1,980. Hey, that’s a $20 discount! ($2 per box!!!)

Topps X Bob Ross Baseball Cards Resell

When the Topps X Bob Ross “The Joy of Baseball” collection went live on October 4, collectors went wild. They had clearly struck a chord with fans of Bob Ross and baseball across the world, and it didn’t take long for everything on Topps’ site to sell out. Even the nearly $2,000 cases went flying.

Now, resellers are making tons of profit by flipping these packs. Everything from the collection is reselling. Right now, a Topps Bob Ross Collector’s Box is going for around $350-$400, while Happy Little Boxes are flipping for about $50.

Topps Bob Ross For Sale

It doesn’t seem like any individual cards are reselling yet. Collectors are focused on nabbing unopened packs, and the Collector’s boxes are definitely more popular than the single packs. Still, this was a great drop for resellers, and the sales have just kept rolling in.

Keep an eye out for more stock to be loaded by Topps. It’s not clear if this was just a silly one-off or something they’ll be rolling out more regularly. If these come back in stock, don’t hesitate to buy.
