Funko Fundays Boxes of Fun are Blowing Up on eBay

This is turning out to be a great summer for resellers. In the past few weeks, we’ve seen a variety of new products explode online, and resell for well over retail. Today, we’re looking at the latest entry in a long-running tradition: Funko Fundays. The summer celebration is a chance for Funkoheads to load up on new toys, and this year had a special offering. Funko “Boxes of Fun” were sold both online and in-person, and are a huge hit with collectors. Both unopened boxes and the individual Funkos that came with are reselling on eBay for huge profits. Let’s take a look.

Funko Fundays at SDCC

Every year, Funko throws a celebration for their fans called Funko Fundays. They typically feature unique merchandise and sales on some items. For people who stay up late waiting for rare Funko drops, this week is a big deal.

Funko Fundays 2023 also featured an in-person celebration at San Diego Comic Con. Funko fans had the opportunity to head over to the Rady Shell at Jacob’s Park for an evening of Funko-related debauchery. Doors opened at 5 pm on July 21.

To attend, you’d have needed to buy a ticket ahead of time to get in. It cost $200 per ticket to attend Funko Fundays 2023, but tickets also got food, drinks, and a complimentary Box of Fun.

This year’s Funko Fundays theme was “Camp Fundays”. Accordingly, most of the decorations, events, and merchandise had a distinctly outdoorsy or park-rangery theme. This also included the Boxes of Fun, which have been the stars of the event.

Funko Fundays 2023 Box of Fun

Funko’s Boxes of Fun came in four varieties this year, all appropriately camp-themed. Buyers had the choice between the Funamuck Bears, Chaseapeak Eagles, Popawaka Lumberjacks, and Protomoa Wolves, which would be represented by a mascot Funko of your team.

In addition to your team’s Funko, every Box of Fun also came with four mystery Funko Pops, and also two SODA Pops. The mystery Funkos received are random, and there’s no way of knowing what you’ll get before you buy.

It’s still early and an official rarity table for mystery Funkos included in the box have not been released. FunkoFinderz on Twitter has put together an unofficial list of possible Funko Pops, but it is not exhaustive. There are more Funkos being shipped in Boxes of Fun than included on this list, and we’ll need to wait a few weeks for more to be opened.

What we can say is that all of the mystery Funko Pops included in the 2023 Boxes of Fun are exclusives. They have not been sold before, and will not be sold separately. Additionally, many of them are quite rare, with some Funkos being sold in editions of 500 or less.

Where to buy a Funko 2023 Box of Fun

Well, it’s too late now. These Boxes of Fun were a Funko Fundays exclusive, and are now sold out.

There were two versions of Boxes of Fun. One was sold online through the Funko website. Online Funko Boxes of Fun cost $105, and customers were limited to one at a time. They were first sold at 9:30 A.M. Pacific on July 21.

If you attended the official Funko Fundays celebration at SDCC, you also had the opportunity to buy these Boxes. In addition to the free Box of Fun included with a ticket, they were also available at merch stands at the event.

It does seem like there was a difference between Boxes of Fun purchased online, and those bought at SDCC. Comic Con Boxes had some extremely rare Funko Pops in them, some of which were limited to just 250 total figures.

2023 Funko Pop Boxes of Fun Resell

With Funko Fundays officially over, Boxes of Fun are starting to show up on eBay. A number of listings went up over the weekend, from both SDCC attendees and folks who bought Boxes online, and resellers are coming out ahead.

Right now, unopened 2023 Funko Pop Boxes of Fun are reselling for around $250. Despite they’re being four different teams, all of the versions resell for around the same price.

That comes out to around $100 to $150 in profit for five minutes of clicking around. Of course, if you were at SDCC, you had the option to go even further. Not only were those Boxes of Fun much less limited, but the individual Funkos are proving quite popular.

Out of all the potential Funko Pops that came bundled with the SDCC Boxes of Fun, a handful of figures have been listed for incredible prices since they were sold at SDCC. Freddy Funko as Captain America Metallic is going through the roof, and there have been multiple sales for this Funko Pop for $1,500+. Not terribly surprising considering they were limited to just 250 total units.

As you can see, it seems like going to Comic Con can actually be profitable. Lucky attendees who pulled a rare Funko Pop from their Box of Fun will be walking away with their next five tickets to Funko Fundays paid for. Or something much more boring, it’s up to them really.
