Hot Wheels just made a remote-controlled car you can actually drive at 1:64 scale. The RC Nissan Skyline R32 Pandem dropped on Mattel Creations October 25 with working headlights, underglow, and a pistol-grip controller, sold out in hours, and is now flipping for double retail.

Hot Wheels Creations has been on a roll lately with premium releases that print money for resellers. The RWB Porsche 930 from the Red Line Club flipped for hundreds, and the Original 16 Rally Case Set is currently moving for $900 on eBay. Both proved that Hot Wheels collectors will pay premium prices for limited releases that hit the nostalgia button.

The RC Nissan Skyline R32 Pandem takes things in a different direction. This is not a static die-cast car you display on a shelf. It’s a fully functional remote-controlled vehicle at 1:64 scale with working headlights, taillights, multi-color underglow lighting, and two driving modes. The design pulls from an actual prize-winning Skyline R32 racer with a custom Pandem body kit.

For JDM enthusiasts and Skyline fans, this collaboration hits all the right notes. The R32 is legendary in Japanese car culture, especially the GT-R variant that dominated racing in the late 80s and early 90s. Pandem‘s widebody kits are some of the most recognizable aftermarket modifications in the tuner scene. Combining both with Hot Wheels’ first legitimate RC car at 1:64 scale created immediate hype.

The execution shows genuine effort. The proportional throttle and precision steering run through a pistol-grip remote, working turn signals activate automatically when you steer, and the multi-color underglow can be controlled from the remote. At $60 retail, the features felt premium compared to standard Hot Wheels releases.

Mattel Creations announced the RC Skyline R32 with about a week of lead time, giving collectors notice but not much else. No production numbers, no purchase limits, just a drop date and time. When October 25 hit, the car sold out in a few hours.

The RC functionality seems to be driving prices more than the die-cast aspect. Buyers are paying for the working features and Pandem collaboration, not just another shelf piece. That practical element gives the car broader appeal beyond traditional Hot Wheels collectors.

eBay is showing consistent sales around $120, with most listings settling between $110 and $130. Volume is decent, suggesting a fair number of units made it into reseller hands. At $60 retail, that’s a clean double with around $90 profit after eBay’s 13% fees.

This fits the pattern we’ve been seeing with Hot Wheels Creations releases all year. The RWB Porsche 930 flipped for hundreds because it combined limited availability with JDM culture appeal. The Original 16 Rally Case Set is moving for $900 because it taps into Hot Wheels’ original 1968 lineup nostalgia. The RC Skyline R32 works the same formula with Japanese car culture and functional RC features.

If you copped at $60 retail, you’re sitting on some pretty respectable profits. Not game-changing money but a solid ~2X flip with minimal effort. The working RC features give this more staying power than standard die-cast releases since it has actual functionality beyond display.

Keep other premium Hot Wheels releases on your radar in the future. Collectors are not afraid to pull up and spend heavy, so make sure you snagged the most popular items before they sell out. Check out our guide to Super Treasure Hunt cars if you’re trying to figure out where to start.
