Sky Puppy Moth plushes are available through BaB’s webstore for $34
Resellers have been flipping them for $150
They’re not marked as limited, and it’s unclear how many are available
It’s never too early to start stocking up on Christmas presents, or make a little money on the side when you’ve got the opportunity. Build-a-Bear Workshop has begun stocking their Sky Puppy Moth plush through their webstore, marking the first time they’ve been listed on online. These have been a profitable flip for months, and this latest development makes things even easier for resellers.
As a reseller, you’re probably already familiar with common categories of items that resell; shoes, trading cards, graphics cards, the usual. What you might not know is that it’s a big, weird world full of big, weird stuff you can flip.
And that includes Build-a-Bear Workshop plushes. We’ve covered these a few times, with plushes like the Emo Axolotl, Longhorn, and Bluey reselling for two to three times their retail prices. Build-a-Bear produces several seasonal and rare plushes that are perfect for flipping.
One of these is their Sky Puppy Moth. These fuzzy plushes are based on the cuddly poodle moth that attracted significant internet attention in the last few years, and have been one of Build-a-Bear’s most popular new offerings.
They are available for sale right now for $35, either stuffed or unstuffed. Until this week, Build-a-Bear Workshop only sold the Sky Puppy plush in stores, and local availability can vary. Now that they’re sold online, resellers have the opportunity to easily stock up.
It’s not clear if the increased availability will affect the market for these plushes, but we can say that they’ve been pretty profitable up until now.
On average, Build-a-Bear Sky Puppy Moth plushes resell for around $150, more than four times what they retail for. We haven’t seen any sales following this week’s listing online.
One thing to consider is that we just know the actual stock numbers for this plush. They are not labeled as limited edition, although Build-a-Bear is limiting customers to two per order. It’s possible that they are listing them online to clear out the remaining stock.
And it’s equally possible they’ll continue churning them out to meet demand. The fact that we’ve seen them resell for a profit is a great sign, but obviously we have no way of predicting the future. Build-a-Bear does offer 90 day refunds for most plushes including this one, making this a fairly low-risk flip.
We’ll let you make the call. While you’re here, make sure you subscribe to our newsletter. From signed books from celebrity authors to exclusive clothing giveaways, we cover everything you need to make a profit.
