MSI is Dropping a Frieren Themed GPU Bundle

The MSI x Frieren collection includes four products: the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16G Frieren Edition OC, the FORGE TKL Wireless Frieren Edition keyboard, the VERSA Wireless Frieren Edition mouse, and the AGILITY GD20 Frieren Edition mousepad.

The GPU is the headliner. It uses MSI’s Gaming Trio platform, so underneath the custom artwork it is the same hardware as the standard RTX 5070 Ti Gaming Trio OC — 8,960 CUDA cores, 16GB of GDDR7 at 28 Gbps, boost clocks up to 2,572 MHz, and MSI’s TRI FROZR 4 cooling system.

What makes it stand out is the presentation. The card ships in a themed gift box and includes a bundled Frieren-branded blanket. More notably, the metal backplate features thermochromic ink that reacts to heat. As the GPU warms up under load, the backplate gradually reveals a line of dialogue from the series, then fades again when the system cools down. It is a legitimately clever touch for a collector piece.

The peripherals round out the setup. The keyboard is a tenkeyless wireless design with linear switches, sound dampening, and Frieren and Fern artwork across the keycaps. The mouse runs a PixArt PAW3395 sensor at up to 26,000 DPI and weighs 65 grams. The mousepad features stitched edges and the same character artwork as the rest of the lineup.

If you are not already familiar with the IP, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a manga series by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe that was adapted into an anime in 2023. It follows an elven mage named Frieren who, after the death of her long-time companion Himmel the Hero, sets out on a new journey to understand what it means to have lived among humans. The series earned a strong critical following and has been widely praised for its emotional depth and animation quality. It has a serious fanbase — not the sort of casual tie-in audience that forgets a collab product exists a week later.

No pricing has been confirmed. Based on where the standard MSI RTX 5070 Ti Gaming Trio OC is sitting right now (around $870-$900 at retail on the MSI US store), the Frieren Edition will almost certainly carry a premium on top of that. A $100-$150 markup for the themed packaging, bundled blanket, and limited availability would not be surprising, which likely puts it somewhere in the $1,000-$1,100 range if and when it reaches the US market.

For context, standard RTX 5070 Ti cards from MSI are already trading above retail on eBay. The GPU market is tight right now, with RTX 50-series cards generally difficult to find at MSRP. A limited-run collectible variant with anime branding adds a second layer of value, as Frieren fans and collectors fight over a limited-edition card to slot into their rig.

The peripheral set is also worth noting separately. Limited-edition keyboards and mice with quality anime artwork have their own collector market, and the VERSA mouse runs a PAW3395 sensor — that is a genuinely competitive spec, not a budget compromise dressed up with artwork.

There is a lot still unconfirmed. Pricing, release date, and regional availability are all still pending. MSI has opened regional product pages globally, which is a good sign for US availability, but no retailer listings have appeared yet. It is also unclear whether this will be a timed exclusive to certain markets at launch or a straight global drop.

Until pricing and availability lock in, there is no firm math to run. Watch this one closely. If the bundle comes in under $1,200 and lands in the US, it could move well above that on the secondary market given the current GPU shortage and the strength of the Frieren fanbase.
