Popular Build-a-Bear collections have flipped for hundreds in the past
Big news for children of all ages, Build-a-Bear Workshop has confirmed that a Bluey collaboration is on the way. Fans of the brand are already getting excited by the idea of spending more money on plush toys, and it’s looking like this might be a great opportunity for resellers. Similar collections have sold out in the past, and resellers have been able to make a quick buck flipping the plushes online. Let’s take a look.
Bluey and Bingo at Build a Bear
Yes, we’re talking about Build-a-Bear, and yes, Build-a-Bear is still hanging around. If you haven’t been to a mall for years you might have forgotten about the brand, but they’ve kept their doors open and continue to make a profit.
One key aspect behind their success is a pivot towards adult customers. By cashing in on childhood nostalgia, Build-a-Bear has managed to capture regular business from Millennials and older Zoomers.
And now Build-a-Bear Workshop is getting ready for a new collection. The Bluey x Build-a-Bear Workshop collaboration has been in the works for some time now, and it seems like the release date is just around the corner.
Things are still pretty cryptic, and Build-a-Bear hasn’t given any hard details; but we’ve seen leaked information but Build-a-Bear employees showing that the Bluey Build-a-Bear collection will be hitting stores in late September.
It seems like there will be at least two different Bluey designs available at Build-a-Bear: Bluey Heeler and Bingo Heeler. Notably, their proportions are different from the standard Build-a-Bear plushes and very similar to how they appear on the show.
There are no confirmed prices yet. Depending on the sizes, comparable Build-a-Bear plushes sell from $30 to $80. Resellers should prioritize buying the unstuffed plushes as they are easier to ship.
Build a Bear Bluey Collection Resells
Even though the details are slim right now, we recommend paying close attention to this collection as we get closer to the release date. Popular Build-a-Bear workshop collections have netted resellers hundreds of dollars.
Back in April, we covered a collection of Longhorn jumbo plushes from Build-a-Bear. At the time, these were sold out and very popular online. Resellers were routinely flipping them for nearly $300.
And you should know that the Bluey Build-a-Bear collection is picking up a lot of interest online. Build-a-Bear’s announcement on TikTok has racked up almost five million views, and a DIY creator that posted their own take the collaboration in 2023 has gained more than half a million views.
@sewmicah Maybe one day BaB will pick me up to design plushies, but today is not that day😅 For now Bluey will stay a one of a kind plush, but who knows what the future may bring! If you’d like to show your support for my work, check out Bluey’s “make a plushie with me” video over on my YT!😁 #bluey #blueytok #blueyheeler #blueyshow #buildabear #buildabearworkshop #plushies #plushmaker #toydesigner #smallartist #handmade #toytok #customplush #sewing #sewistsoftiktok #sewist
Point being, people are excited. It’s just a matter of time until Build-a-Bear releases the full details of the Bluey Build-a-Bear collection, including prices, release dates, and plushes. When that happens, pay close attention and be ready to make a trip to the mall.
