Evercade Nexus DOOM Edition Handhelds Sell Out Fast

Evercade and Blaze Entertainment announced the DOOM Edition alongside a new DOOM Collection cartridge, tying the release to id Software’s 35th anniversary push. The console itself is a reskinned version of the upcoming Evercade Nexus, Blaze’s next flagship handheld, done up in an industrial grey and yellow color scheme with red buttons meant to evoke Doomguy’s gear.

The standard Nexus runs $200. The DOOM version costs an extra $50, and that premium buys a seriously loaded bundle. Buyers get the DOOM-themed console, a big-box version of The DOOM Collection cartridge featuring DOOM, DOOM II, and six additional mission packs plus a Deathmatch pack, a hard shell carrying case, a comic, a keyring, a double-sided poster, a numbered certificate of authenticity, and a screen protector.

It’s exclusive to Funstock, capped at 3,000 units globally, and preorders opened at 7am PT this morning before selling out.

This isn’t Evercade’s first run at scarcity driving demand. Past limited hardware, like the Purple Edition console capped at 1,000 units, has built a small but real collector following, and Evercade’s previous limited editions have flipped for as much as $400.

Funstock isn’t sending these out until October 30, so anyone listing one on eBay right now is selling a preorder, not a console in hand. That hasn’t stopped sellers from posting asks north of $500.

If a sale in that range does eventually land, the math works out well. After eBay’s 13.6 percent cut, that’s roughly $432 in hand, or about $182 in profit over the $250 retail price. That’s a solid flip if it holds, but it’s built entirely on demand that hasn’t been tested yet.

A 3,000-unit cap on a DOOM-branded collector’s edition was always going to move fast with retro gaming and collector audiences both circling it, and Evercade’s track record of limited runs holding value gave buyers confidence to act on launch day instead of waiting.
