Xfinity stores are giving away free “The Odyssey” movie posters to customers while supplies last
The posters are reselling on eBay for $15 to $20 with several completed sales confirming demand
Platinum and Diamond Xfinity members can also grab an exclusive collector pin with an active Peacock subscription
“The Odyssey” hype has been building for weeks, and now it is spilling into random Xfinity storefronts. Comcast started handing out free promotional posters for Christopher Nolan’s film last week with no purchase required beyond having an active account. There is no press release and no real advertising behind it, so most customers walking into a store have no idea Nolan-branded merch is sitting behind the counter. That gap between the promotion existing and people actually knowing about it is exactly why a handful of resellers have already started working the phones and the storefronts.
The giveaway runs at participating Xfinity retail locations, and technically it is limited to Xfinity customers. In practice, enforcement is loose. Most reps are just trying to clear out a promotional box in the back room and are not checking for proof of an active account before handing one over.
Some resellers report walking out with up to ten posters in one visit, while other stores are capping it at one per person. Consistency varies by location, so the move is calling ahead or just showing up and asking.
The film opens in theaters July 17, and Xfinity is clearly trying to ride the wave. Diamond and Platinum tier members get an added bonus: a collector pin, available by showing a rep an active Peacock Premium subscription at the counter.
This is a small flip on its own, but it fits a pattern we have tracked all summer. We already covered Odyssey IMAX 70mm tickets reselling for hundreds after opening weekend seats sold out in hour-long queues, and Hamilton’s limited edition Odyssey watch is shaping up to be one of the bigger flips of the summer with just 2,112 pieces made. This poster giveaway is nowhere near that scale, but it shows demand for anything Odyssey-branded is still climbing as release day approaches.
There is no purchase involved, so the downside risk is basically zero. Worst case, a poster sits in a closet. At $15 to $20 a pop on eBay, a single store run covers gas money, and someone willing to hit multiple locations or catch different employees over a few days could stack a handful of these for a quick payout. This will not fund a mortgage, but it is close to free money for anyone who already lives or works near an Xfinity store.
