Oreo Cinnamon Bun cookies return to US shelves nationwide on July 6 after a decade’s absence
Imported Canadian packages previously resold for $10 to $15 against a $3 retail price
Oreo’s recent limited edition flavors both flipped well, with BTS’ Hotteok hitting $50 at launch
Oreo just brought back one of its most requested flavors. Cinnamon Bun vanished from US shelves a decade ago, but it never really left. Fans kept importing it from Canada and paying well over retail for the privilege. Now it’s coming home, and recent history says the resale window won’t stay open long.
This flavor pairs cinnamon wafers with a cinnamon bun flavored creme, and it built a real following after launching back in 2016 before disappearing from US stores.
It kept selling in Canada the whole time, which meant fans had to either import packs themselves or pay a markup to someone willing to do it for them. That kind of demand sticking around for ten years is rare for a snack flavor, and Oreo has confirmed it’s one of the brand’s top ten most requested returns.
This flavor is also dropping into a market that’s already proven receptive to limited runs. We covered Oreo’s BTS hotteok collaboration last month, where presale packages hit $50 on eBay before settling into the $10 to $15 range in recent weeks.
Before that, Butterfinger’s French Toast bars sold individually for as much as $11 against a retail price of roughly $2, with bulk Costco cases moving for $50 to $60.
The math here is simple. Packages retail for $3 to $6, and the existing resale data from Canadian imports puts demand somewhere in the $10 to $15 range even without a hype cycle attached. After eBay fees, that’s still several dollars of profit per package. Cinnamon Bun isn’t a celebrity collab, so it likely won’t draw the kind of frenzy that pushed BTS packages to $50. Treat this as a reliable, repeatable flip rather than a jackpot.
Buy in bulk if you can. At $3 a package, the entry cost is low enough to grab a case or two from multiple stores without denting a budget. Selling packages individually rather than as a lot tends to net more total profit, the same pattern that played out with Butterfinger’s bulk boxes. Oreo says the run is nationwide starting July 6 while supplies last, with no confirmed end date, so there’s no need to panic buy on day one, but don’t wait weeks either.
