Jollibee’s 500ml glass tumbler hits stores July 23 bundled with a 10-piece bucket
The bundle runs around $45 at most locations and is in-store or takeout only, no app or online orders
Jack in the Box’s similar glass sipper parody previously flipped for around $50 on the secondary market
Starbucks kicked off the glass cup obsession with its Bearista tumblers, and it didn’t take long for other chains to catch on. Jack in the Box was first to jump into the bit with its own glass sipper. Now Jollibee’s throwing its bee mascot into the mix with a limited glass tumbler that’s only available for a limited time.
Starting July 23, Jollibee locations in the US and Canada will offer a 500ml glass tumbler shaped like the brand’s bee mascot, but only as part of a 10-piece Chickenjoy Bucket combo.
You have to buy the bucket to get the glass, and you have to do it in person or through takeout, since it’s not available through Jollibee’s app or website. Pricing varies by location but should land around $45 for most stores, and it’s while supplies last, so don’t expect a restock once locations sell through their allotment.
This is the latest entry in a trend we’ve been tracking closely. Starbucks’ bearista cups set the template for viral glass cup demand, and Jack in the Box’s sipper proved other fast food brands could ride the same wave, even if the profit ceiling was lower than Starbucks’ offerings.
Jack in the Box’s version flipped for around $50, a decent but not spectacular return relative to what Starbucks cups have pulled in. At their peak, Starbucks’ glass Bearista cups were reselling for over $300.
Jollibee brings something different to the table though: a genuinely devoted fanbase, especially among overseas and diaspora communities who treat the brand with a level of loyalty most fast food chains don’t get. That kind of demand could push these tumblers higher than the Jack in the Box comp, and we could see them flipping for up to $100 once they hit the secondary market. That’s speculative since nothing has sold yet, so treat it as an educated guess rather than a locked-in number.
