Key Points

  • The 9-carat lab-grown pink diamond ring sold via eBay auction for $8,300, well below its $35,000 appraisal

  • The ring contains a 9-carat center stone plus 332 accent diamonds set in 18K white gold

  • Scrapping the components could yield $6,300-$9,500 total, making the $8,000 purchase price essentially fair market value

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than a garish, pink diamond-encrusted, syrupy alcohol-branded engagement ring? BuzzBallz’ auction for their Pink Lemonsqueezy ring has closed, with the winning bidder paying over $8,000 for the ring. We’re going to take a closer look at the math behind this sale and see how clever the buyer actually is.

BuzzBallz Pink Lemonsqueezy Ring Auction

BuzzBallz really went all in on marketing their new Pink Lemonsqueezy flavor. The ready-to-drink cocktail brand auctioned off a custom 9-carat pink diamond engagement ring shaped like one of their iconic spherical containers, and someone just paid $8,000 for it. The auction closed February 10 after a week of bidding that started at $2.14, with proceeds going to a heart-related charity.

The ring hit $5,051 midway through the auction week, then climbed to its final $8,000 price tag by closing time. But here’s the real question: did the winner actually get a deal, or did they just buy an overpriced marketing stunt?

BuzzBallz Pink Diamond Ring Winning Bid

BuzzBallz designed this thing to be as on-brand as physically possible. The 9-carat lab-grown pink diamond sits inside a custom 18K white gold bezel shaped like a mini BuzzBallz container, complete with 332 accent diamonds covering the surface and a functional pull tab made of gold. It’s sized at 6.5 and can be resized up or down one size.

The company had it appraised at $35,000, which is a completely meaningless number. Insurance appraisals are always inflated, sometimes 2-3x actual market value. They factor in retail markup, custom design fees, and the jeweler’s labor costs, none of which matter when you’re trying to resell.

What is the BuzzBallz Ring Worth?

Let’s look at what the components are actually worth if you strip away the BuzzBallz branding:

The 9-carat lab-grown pink diamond: This is where most of the value lives. Based on current market data, a 9-carat lab-grown diamond averages around $6,691. Pink lab diamonds can command a premium depending on color intensity and clarity, putting a decent quality stone somewhere in the $6,000-$9,000 range.

The 332 accent diamonds: Worth basically nothing individually. Industry standard is that small accent diamonds might total $100-200 for the entire lot. Buyers don’t value these separately.

The 18K white gold custom setting: Even though BuzzBallz probably paid thousands to a custom jeweler to design and create that bezel, the setting is only worth scrap gold value when reselling. Nobody wants to reuse a BuzzBallz-branded ring, so buyers just melt it down. At current gold prices, you’re looking at $300-500 max for the scrap.

Total component value: $6,300-$9,500

Is $8,000 a Good Deal?

Actually, yeah. Sort of. It’s basically fair market value.

If the center stone is a decent quality 9-carat lab-grown pink diamond, $8,000 is probably close to what you’d pay for the stone alone from a diamond dealer. You’re getting the gold and accent diamonds essentially for free, which means this isn’t a terrible purchase if you know what to do with it.

But it’s not some massive steal either. The $35,000 appraisal was always fiction, pure insurance and retail markup that evaporates the second you try to resell.

So the buyer paid $8,000 and can likely recoup most or all of that by parting it out, assuming the center stone is actually decent quality. Not a bad outcome for a charity auction impulse buy.

Could You Flip It As Is?

Probably not for profit. The intact ring might appeal to a hardcore BuzzBallz collector, but that’s an incredibly niche market. You’d be betting on finding someone who both loves BuzzBallz enough to want this thing and has several thousand dollars to blow on novelty jewelry.

If you listed it on eBay or a specialty marketplace, you’d probably struggle to get your $8,000 back. The custom branding is a liability, not an asset. Most buyers would just do the math and realize they can buy a loose 9-carat lab pink diamond for less money and have it set however they want. With gold and silver prices at historic highs, scrapping it now is probably the smartest play.

Bottom Line

The buyer paid basically fair market value for the diamond components. They didn’t get ripped off, but they didn’t get a screaming deal either. The $35,000 appraisal was always marketing hype.

If they actually want to use this as an engagement ring, godspeed. If they’re planning to flip it, the smart money is on scrapping the setting and selling the diamond separately. The BuzzBallz branding adds novelty value for collectors but kills mainstream resale potential.

Either way, $8,000 for a charity auction ring that you can break down into $6,300-$9,500 worth of components is not a disaster. Just don’t expect to retire off flipping a cocktail-branded engagement ring.
