Retailers like Costco start stocking Halloween decorations in July
Giant Ground Breaking Skeletons are a popular prop available for $250
As we get closer to Halloween, expect to see them sell out and resell
If you don’t mind holding onto a product for a while, we have a great opportunity you can take advantage of right now. Costco is starting to stock decorations for Halloween 2024, and now is the time to buy. Give it a few months for the spooky spirit to kick in, and people who missed out will be desperate for the hottest decorations for the holiday. Here’s what you need to know.
Yeah, yeah, we know; “It’s July, why are you talking about Halloween now?” Well, you should know that the best time to buy seasonal decorations is a few months before the season.
Manufacturers will start spinning up production well in advance of the holiday, and Summer is generally the best time to pick up Halloween and Christmas decorations as they start stocking in stores.
Today we’ll be looking at a particular Halloween yard decoration: the Giant Ground Breaking Skeleton from Costco. As you can probably guess from the name, this is a big-ass skeleton made to look like it’s bursting up from the ground.
Featuring light-up LED eyes and a “spooky sound” speaker connected to a motion detector, this is a great way to traumatize younger trick-or-treaters and piss off your older neighbors.
These are hitting shelves as of this week. You can buy a Giant Ground Breaking Skeleton for $250 from Costco Warehouses, but they are also available through Costco’s website for $330. We’ll leave up to you to make that decision, but buying in person is probably for the best.
Of course, we’d only be covering these skeletons if they were worth reselling. Every year, we see all kinds of Halloween decorations pop off on social media and sell out.
Those are the products that you want to buy ahead of time and hold for the long run. Buy smart or just get lucky, and you stand to make hundreds of dollars in profit when October rolls around.
Want some examples? Last year we covered two extremely profitable Halloween decorations: a 13 Foot Jack Skellington replica and a line of yard skeletons from Tractor Supply Co. These retailed for between $50 and $300, and resellers were able to flip them for around twice that after they went viral on TikTok.
These Giant Ground Breaking Skeletons from Costco are just beginning to get social media attention. We’ll need to wait until September at least until things really get swinging, but by then it might be hard to buy the hottest products at retail.
Keep your eyes on this product. It make take a while, but this has all the makings of a profitable Halloween flip.
