Bettinardi X Rawlings Putter Covers Sell Out in Seconds

If you love golf and like baseball, we’ve got an interesting product for you. Golf manufacturer Bettinardi teamed up with Rawlings to produce a limited run of baseball-themed putter covers. These proved wildly popular with golfers, and the entire collection sold out almost immediately. Now resellers are listing their covers on eBay, and looking to double or even triple their money. Let’s take a look.

Bettinardi Baseball Putter Covers

Sports accessories have been a popular flip for resellers lately. We covered the collection of Absolutely Ridiculous sliding gloves for baseball players back in August, and there’s always a new putter or piece of golf equipment that’s reselling.

Yesterday, Bettinardi dropped a limited collection of putter covers as part of a collaboration with Rawlings. Bettinardi is primarily a golf supplier, known for making clubs, putters, bags, and many other accessories. Rawlings is, well, Rawlings. They’ve been making baseball equipment for over 100 years, and are the exclusive baseball manufacturer for the MLB.

So any collaboration between the two would be a combination of the two sports. Yesterday’s drop included 17 different items, from towels to t-shirts to an actual putter.

What we’re interested in are the putter covers. These are exactly what they sound like; they cover a putter. Functionally, they protect the club from damage and the elements, but they also provide an opportunity for the golfer to add a bit of flair to their golf bag.

The putter covers in the Bettinardi X Rawlings drop are all baseball-themed, and many of them are overtly designed to look like a baseball itself. They feature large stitches and thick leather in a variety of colors.

Out of these, the white and red putter cover (the most baseball-looking one) was the most popular, while the all-black and tan leather covers were also well received. All of these sold for $165.

There was also a set of wood covers for $450. These included three separate covers made from leather with prominent stitches, and featured a large Rawlings badge.

The Bettinardi X Rawlings collaboration went live at 8 A.M. Pacific on October 12. We only had around 24 hours notice before the drop, but that didn’t seem to phase buyers. Pretty much everything in the collection sold out in under five minutes, with the most hyped items disappearing in less than 60 seconds.

Will the Bettinardi Rawlings Collection Resell?

Now that the retail stock has sold out, we can say that a sizable portion of this collection was purchased by resellers.

Many of the putter covers went up on eBay within 24 hours of the sale. Most resellers are asking somewhere between $300 and $500, with complete collections being listed for upwards of $1,000. It’s still early and there haven’t been many confirmed sales, but at least one Bettinardi X Rawlings putter cover has sold for around $400.

We’ll be checking back in with this collection after a few days. The hype around these putter covers has been remarkable, and we expect a sizable aftermarket for them. Any time a product sells out this fast, it’s a good sign for resellers hoping to make a profit.
