Wingstop handed out 420 rolling trays today, and the people who showed up early are now sitting on some of the easiest profit of the year. A $10 chicken order turned into a $300-plus flip before most of us finished lunch. The math on this one is almost embarrassing.

Wingstop and Resellers Celebrate 4/20

Wingstop brought back its Hot Box for 4/20, a meal built around three tenders or eight wings in Fiery Nacho dry rub, served over fries with house ranch, herb seasoning, a 20 oz drink, and a dip. The meal runs around $10 depending on your protein choice and location.

The draw was the tray. Any customer who walked into one of four participating locations and bought a Hot Box on April 20 received a limited-edition branded “flavor tray” while supplies lasted. Wingstop was pretty coy about calling it what it is, but everyone understood the assignment.

The supply was 420 units total across all four locations, each one individually numbered. Walk-in only, no app orders, one per transaction. The four stores were in Pasadena (CA), San Jose (CA), Atlanta (GA), and Manhattan (NY).

The formula here wasn’t complicated: branded collectible tied to a specific cultural moment, ultra-scarce supply, in-person only, four locations across the entire country. Demand from 420 culture is real and passionate. The secondary market for cannabis paraphernalia and related memorabilia has a dedicated buyer base that will pay serious money for the right piece.

We called this one a few days ago when we covered the drop. Our pre-release estimate was $75 to $150 based on comparable promos. The trays cleared well above that range.

The closest recent comparison is the Popeyes x One Piece bento box giveaway from earlier this month. Those boxes went for $300-plus on eBay after being given away for free with a $13.99 meal at six locations. The Wingstop trays had an even smaller total supply, 420 units versus 1,200 (200 per store across six locations), and that scarcity is showing up in the asking prices.
