BIC's 420 Weekender Drop Was a Huge Success for Flippers

BIC has been leaning hard into 420 for a few years now. The BIC Flickaway Weekender Bag is the brand’s third limited-edition accessory drop for the holiday, following the 2023 Best Buds Bags and the 2024 Hold the Phone Case. They clearly know what they’re doing with these – keep it weird, keep it cheap, keep it scarce.

The bag itself is shaped like a BIC Maxi Pocket Lighter, which is a genuinely fun design choice. It’s a 22-inch waxed canvas weekender with a subtle cannabis leaf print, a satin lining in the opposite color, and a removable insulated stash pouch built into the side.

Aside from the bag, BIC also sent out an 8-pack of BIC Special Edition Counterculture lighters, a travel tray, stash jar, luggage tag, and bag charms, with the entire package valued at $99. The first wave went live at noon ET on 420. A second wave loaded at 4:20 PM. Both sold out. Limit was two per person.

No completed sales have closed yet – BIC is processing orders for 6 to 8 weeks before anything ships, so no bags have landed in anyone’s hands. Active eBay listings are already up, but those aren’t the numbers that matter. Until sold comps appear, treat any price you see as speculation.

The floor here is comfortable regardless. At $60 to $70 on secondary, after eBay’s 13% fee you’re still clearing over $50 on a $4.20 investment. At $100, you’re pocketing roughly $83 after fees. Resellers who maxed the two-bag limit spent $8.40 total. BIC ran two separate drop waves today, so supply is higher than a typical single-wave release – keep that in mind when gauging demand.

This is about as low-risk a reseller play as you’ll see. Four dollars and change for something with a $99 retail value, accessories included, on a recognizable design with mainstream brand backing. The only uncertainty is where the market settles once bags ship. Even conservative outcomes here are profitable.
