Dasai Mochi 2.0

Mochi 2.0 is a little buddy for your car. This RGB OLED powered accessory is intended to sit on the dashboard of your car, making sure you will never drive alone again.

Have you ever thought “Hey, I like my car, but I sure wish I had a little fellow on my dash speaking to me in Japanese”? Good news! The Dasai Mochi 2.0 is here for you. After several years of production and iteration, Dasai’s latest dashboard companion is proving extremely popular. In fact, they’re pretty difficult to buy because every restock sells out extremely fast. Now, the Dasai Mochi 2.0 is reselling for more than its retail price.

What is the Dasai Mochi 2.0?

Dasai is an Australian company that sells Japanese-themed paraphernalia for cars. Think funny stickers rather than racing parts. The company has developed a cult following in both Australia and the US, with many of their products holding extremely positive reviews.

The Mochi 2.0 is part of their portfolio of driver’s gadgets. The Mochi is a fun little robot encased in a replica racing helmet. His face is a OLED screen that displays various kawaii and racing related animations, and he has a speaker to burble out bits of Japanese in a high pitched voice. He’s the perfect addition to a specced out racecar or your average beater.

The clever design of the Mochi 2.0 and Dasai’s cult status has created an extremely popular product. It makes an ideal gift for a car lover, otaku, or both, and is useable in pretty much any vehicle. The Dasai Mochi 2.0 sells for $50 from Dasai’s shop.

Because of its popularity and Dasai’s small scale production, the Mochi 2.0 is frequently sold out. Dasai will restock the Mochi in limited numbers, but these will sell out extremely fast. Like, 10 minutes fast. Frustrated fans unable to buy a Mochi 2.0 direct have no choice but to turn to resellers, and are paying big prices in some cases.

The Dasai Mochi 2.0 resells on eBay

The first sale of the Dasai Mochi 2.0 was a presale, which took place in late February 2023. Selected buyers were given a password to buy the Mochi ahead of the public release. Even then, Dasai claimed that they had given out more than twice the allocations for Mochis that they had originally intended.

Following the initial limited release and public sale, listings for the Dasai Mochi 2.0 for sale on eBay exploded. There simply were not enough of the cute little rascals to go around, so fans had to turn to resellers to get their hands on one. Initial sales for the Dasai Mochi 2.0 were around $150, triple the original retail price.

This remained the case for the next few months. Dasai is quite a small company, so they were unable to meet the intense demand for some time. Future restocks of the Mochi 2.0 would go much the same way as the first: limited warning, limited stock, and plenty of disappointed fans

Dasai Mochi for Sale eBay

Around May 2023, production of the Mochi 2.0 appeared to increase. The Mochi restocks more frequently and in greater numbers than the early releases, which has caused the aftermarket to cool down. Now, the Dasai Mochi 2.0 tends to resell for around $70 to $90. There are certain helmet color combinations that are rarer and more desirable which can bump a Mochi’s price further.

All in all, the Mochi 2.0 is a super cool product backed by a dedicated team. The community that has grown around Dasai is very strong, and the company has no signs of slowing down soon. Pay attention to future releases from them.
