Topps 30 Years of Toy Story Hobby Boxes Flip for Over $500

Topps dropped their 30 Years of Toy Story hobby boxes to mark three decades since the original Pixar film hit theaters in November 1995. The set is built around a 100-card base set spanning all four Toy Story films, with Woody, Buzz, and the rest of Andy’s crew represented throughout. Every hobby box contains 8 packs of 4 cards, with guaranteed pulls including one autograph or sketch card and four numbered parallels per box.

The high-end hits are what make this set worth chasing as a collector. Autograph cards feature signatures from Tom Hanks and Tim Allen alongside other franchise voice actors including Whoopi Goldberg, Kelsey Grammer, Mel Brooks, and Christina Hendricks.

Sketch cards hand-drawn by Pixar animators add another layer of chase appeal. Limited inserts like Andy’s Cards Shadowbox and The Claw Shadowbox are each numbered to just 20 copies, and the Sid Has Your Cards die-cuts are among the rarest pulls in the set with only 5 copies of each of the 10 designs.

The packaging itself is designed to look like a covered wagon, which is a nice touch for a 30th anniversary product built around the franchise that started everything for Pixar. This isn’t just any licensed card set slapped together to capitalize on an IP. Topps put real thought into the design, and collectors have noticed.

Hobby boxes from both drops are currently selling in the $490 to $510 range on eBay, with sold listings confirming consistent demand. That puts the profit on a single box at roughly $290 before fees. After eBay’s 13% cut, you’re looking at a net profit around $225 per box.

Not life-changing on a single unit, but for five minutes of raffle entry with zero risk of losing money on a bad buy decision, that’s a strong return.

Cases are where it gets more interesting. Sealed 12-box cases are moving for approximately $6,000 on the secondary market. At a retail cost of around $2,520 for a full case, that’s a profit margin over $3,000 before fees on a single case win. Case winners are eating well.

It’s worth noting that Topps sells these as final sale, no refunds. That matters for cases more than individual boxes, since you’re committing real capital. If you win a case allocation in a future raffle and the market shifts, you’re holding the bag. Given the consistent secondary market performance across two separate drops, that risk looks manageable, but it’s real.

A third restock is the main risk to current prices. More supply means more boxes hitting the secondary market, which could push prices down from their current range. That said, two successful sell-outs suggests Topps has calibrated supply to demand reasonably well. A third drop would likely find the same response.
