Taylor Swift dropped three collector’s edition CD singles for Toy Story 5 on June 1 after a themed countdown that turned her entire webstore into a Pixar scene, complete with Jessie the cowgirl and a barn backdrop. The three CDs each contain a different version of “I Knew It, I Knew You” — the original, an acoustic take, and a piano version — and they sold out before the 48-hour sale window could expire. Bundles are already trading hands on the secondary market, and there’s more to the story here than another Taylor Swift variant drop.

Swift’s usual CD strategy involves releasing multiple variants that differ only by cover art, which floods the market and keeps individual values modest. These three CDs are actually distinct recordings.

The original version is the track as it appears in the film, while the acoustic and piano versions have “unique vocals and production” per the product listing. Buyers are getting three different recordings, not just three different sleeves.

The CDs are tied to Toy Story 5, which hits theaters June 19, also the ship date. Swift co-wrote and co-produced the song with Jack Antonoff, and Disney positioned it as a return to her country roots through Jessie’s arc in the franchise.

The promotional push was significant: “TS” billboards appeared in major cities across the US, UK, and Canada before the announcement, and her entire webstore got a Pixar makeover for the drop.

Complete bundles of all three CDs are currently listed on eBay in the $40 to $50 range. That puts the flip on a $12 investment at roughly $23 to $32 after eBay’s fees, before shipping. A clean return for the effort involved.

To be honest, this seems a little low. Taylor’s broken from her track record (somewhat) by releasing different versions of the song rather than simple cover art swaps, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see fans that missed out on the opportunity cave to FOMO and snag all three for higher prices.

Still, we don’t know exactly how many CDs were sold. The market is sitting where it is right now, and it may rise in the near future.

The 48-hour sale window runs until June 3 at 1:59 PM EST, but the CDs sold out before it could expire. We think that Taylor Swift will be restocking her Toy Story CDs, and confirmation will probably come in after that original countdown ends.

One restock probably doesn’t hurt values much; a second announcement or move to wider retail would be the scenario to watch. Expect the second drop to sell out quickly, but not instantly. This should be an easy opportunity to score some quick cash.
