MoonSwatch "Gold Snoopy" Watches Continue to Resell

If you’re not familiar with the line, let’s quickly go over the “Mission to Moonshine” series from Swatch. This is a joint partnership between Swatch and Omega, with the former’s quartz technology powering the internals and the latter providing much of the face’s styling.

The collaboration began in 2022, with the “Mission to Moonshine” watches rolling out in 2023 and as a limited edition collaboration built with Omega’s 18k Moonshine gold.

Since then, they’ve continued to produce small runs of highly collectable variants. The most recent two were the black and white Snoopy MoonSwatches, which depicted the classic canine prominently on the face.

Now Swatch has sold another Snoopy MoonSwatch, this time featuring a subdued blue and white design. A small Snoopy is engraved on the face, which is complete with a gold-inlayed moon phase indicator and a curious “Earth Phase” indicator that shows what the Earth looks like when viewed from the Moon at that particular time.

Why Snoopy? The MoonSwatch line has distinct ties to manned space flight and the Apollo program, and it turns out Snoopy does too. In 1968, Snoopy was elected as the mascot for NASA’s Manned Space Flight Awareness Program, and NASA engineers receive Silver Snoopy badges for significant contributions in their career.

Swatch has rolled that connection into their MoonSwatches, and he makes for a unique and endearing design.

Like other limited edition MoonSwatches, these were sold at a handful of Swatch stores on September 8, one day after the full moon.

Unlike other MoonSwatches, these were priced at $450. This is a bump of $140 above the previously established $310 MSRP, and a serious chunk of change to pay for a quartz watch. Still, there were long lines out the door when these went up for sale.

The price hike probably reflects Swatch’s awareness of the aftermarket for their “Mission to Moonshine” watches. We’ve been covering the collection for almost three years and this point, and we’ve yet to see a limited edition MoonSwatch fail to resell.

These latest designs are no exception. Right now, Swatch “Gold Snoopy” EarthPhase watches are reselling for a considerable premium, with many sales landing in the $800 to $1,000 range. Even lower end sales still move for around $600, clearing resellers an easy $150+ in profit.

Of course, getting your hands on one is no easy feat. Limited Edition MoonSwatches are sold for a limited time only (usually linked to a particular lunar event), and they’re only available at participating Swatch locations.

Unsurprisingly, the lines are long and competition fierce. While Swatch limits customers to a single watch per purchase, there’s still never enough to go around.

Don’t hold your breath for a restock either. Once these are gone, they’re gone, and you won’t be getting another chance until Swatch reveals the next design.
