Messi’s latest business venture is a line of Stanley tumblers and mugs
Retail prices ranged from $30 to $65
Resellers are doubling and tripling their money across the collection
Earlier this week, Stanley launched their latest high profile drinkware collaboration with soccer superstar Lionel Messi. New tumblers, cups, and jugs were sold in signature Messi Pink, and his fans were quick to go after them. Those that were too slow to snag them at retail were forced to buy from a reseller, and the margins we’ve been seeing are nothing short of superb. Here’s how it all went down.
As we all know, it’s not just what you’re drinking, but what you drink it out of. We’ve already covered Messi’s own line of sports drinks, and now he’s expanded his empire with a new collaboration with Stanley.
On Tuesday morning, the Messi X Stanley Collab collection dropped on Stanley’s website. Five new products were available in a distinctive “Messi Pink”; a 40oz tumbler, 64oz Iceflow jug, 24oz Flipstraw, 1.3qt bottle and 8oz mug.
Prices ranged for $30 to $65. Compared to some of Stanley’s previous limited edition collaborations, this one seems to have been produced in very high quantities. Not only were these tumblers sold online, but they are also available in-person at major sports retailers like Dick’s and Big 5.
If you’ve been reselling for a minute, you know that there’s a lot of money in Stanley. You might also know that their 40oz tumblers are usually the most popular and profitable product.
While that’s been the case in the past, this drop shook things up a bit. Whether it was the inflated stock or shifting preferences, the Messi Stanley 8oz mugs have actually been the most popular item from the collection and sold out first.
Even before the product launch we saw plenty of presale listings go up on eBay. The 8oz mugs have made up a large portion of the sales, but everything else is flipping for a profit as well.
Right now, Messi Stanley products are reselling for two to three times what they retailed for. 8oz mugs are averaging sales of more than $70, while large jugs and tumblers have flipped for over $100 at a time.
Depending on what they bought and how much they stockpiled, resellers were able to score triple digit profits across the collection. And while this was definitely a major collaboration, it took quite a while for everything to sell out.
Sometimes all you need is a little luck and early information. Missed out on this one? RC Elite members didn’t. They were given advanced notice ahead of the drop, and had the specific products they should be going for picked out for them. All they had to do was click and make a profit.
If you want to take advantage of opportunities like these, you need to join RC Elite too. New flips are being posted every single day, and the longer you wait the more money you leave on the table.
