DOOM: The Dark Ages Collector’s Editions were available for preorder for months
They were $200 and included a premium statue
Resellers are flipping the bundles for up to $400, while the statues have sold for over $200
It’s been a few weeks, and the reviews for DOOM: The Dark Ages continue to come in strong. We’re seeing a surge in interest for Collector’s Editions in the last few days, with many selling for two or even three times the listed price. This was an easy, risk-free product to buy, and now the resellers that got in months ago are reaping profits.
It’s time a for a “we told you so” article. You remember our article from January covering DOOM: The Dark Ages Collector’s Editions, right? Well, if you followed our advice back then, you’d be $200 richer.
Here are the details. DOOM: The Dark Ages is the third entry in id Software’s rebooted DOOM series. The first two games were highly beloved among fans of the series and gamers in general, and their respective collector’s editions have flipped for hundreds of dollars over MSRP.
This made The Dark Ages a pretty obvious target for resellers. DOOM: The Dark Ages Collector’s Bundles retailed for $200, and included various physical trinkets and a 12″ statuette of the Doom Slayer.
Preorders opened in January through Bethesda’s webstore, well ahead of the game’s launch and in line with typical AAA releases. Fans and resellers had plenty of time to make a preorder, and there was essentially no risk as you could cancel your preorder at any time prior to release.
In fact, DOOM: The Dark Ages Collector’s Editions were still available for preorder into early April. If three months isn’t enough time for you to have snagged one, that’s very much a you problem.
Fortunately for us, there are plenty of adults out there that are too lazy to make a preorder on time but willing to overpay for their favorite toys. Video game collector’s editions have become a pretty popular flip in the last few years, and you’re about to see why.
Right now, DOOM: The Dark Ages Collector’s Editions are reselling for $350 to $400. These prices are actually down a bit, with sales just before and just after launch averaging upwards of $500.
Even if you sold late, this represents a ton of easy profit for no effort and no risk. If you preordered one of these back in January, all you had to do was sit on your hands for a few months and collect your $200 after the game released. We’ll take that deal any day of the week.
So if you’re looking to add more flips like this to your reselling diet, make sure you subscribe to our newsletter. We’re hard at work bringing you the latest items to resell, but you won’t hear about any of them if you’re not subscribed.
P.S. The Telepathic Instruments Orchid keyboard restock is today. These keyboards have flipped for up to $1,400 in the past, so check out our restock guide here with everything you need to snag one. Happy flipping!
