Concord merch is quickly being discontinued after the game’s failure
Limited Edition Concord PS5 controllers sold out at $85
Resellers are now flipping them for more than $300
After failing to sell, Sony has pulled the plug on Concord. Digital sales have been suspended, and physical products are quickly being discontinued. We’ve started to see a significant aftermarket emerge for merchandise related to the game, including this exclusive Concord DualSense controllers for the PS5. These are already flipping for more than three times what they retailed for.
If you’re a gamer, you’ve probably heard all about the failure of Concord. While it’s never fun to watch a game struggle after launch, Concord could barely scrape through two weeks before Sony publically killed the project.
We wrote a longer article about the game after seeing how Concord physical copies were reselling. While the game’s cancellation wasn’t exactly shocking, the quickness of it meant that resellers and collectors barely had time to stock up on merch.
The outcome is that physical Concord merch has suddenly become very valuable. There’s not a whole lot of it, and collectors want it as a souvenir.
What we’re looking at today is a limited edition Concord DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5. These have the same features and technology as a standard DualSense, but are wrapped in a slick black skin and emblazoned with imagery from the game.
Sony produces limited edition controller designs for several of their major first party releases. These have included Spider-Man, God of War, and most recently Astro Bot. The fact that Concord is on the same list really underscores how big of a flop this game is.
Concord PlayStation 5 controllers retailed for $85. Because of how unpopular the game was ahead of its release, they sold very slowly. These were available to buy up until a few days ago, and many of them were picked up by resellers.
Hopefully you were paying attention the “Concord merch resells” bit. Concord’s servers shut down yesterday, and now the game’s ten or so fans are scrambling to find something to remember it by.
Right now, Concord PlayStation Controllers are reselling for around $300. This is one of the highest prices we’ve seen limited edition PlayStation controllers go to, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down yet.
At an $85 MSRP, resellers that got in on this flip were able to more than triple their money. Some controllers have even sold for more than $400, although that’s definitely uncommon.
And while these have sold out through PlayStation’s online store, it might still be possible to buy them at retail. Local Walmart and GameStop stores may have received controllers to sell, and it’s worth trying to find one. $200+ in profit off one item is never something to sneeze at.
