The Crocs Ripple retails for $90 and releases today, October 31 on Complex’s website, with a global launch scheduled for 2026
Only 300 pairs were available at ComplexCon last weekend, selling out on a first-come-first-served basis at 150 pairs per day
StockX currently shows a lowest ask of $200 for the white and blue colorway, putting profit around $86 per pair after platform fees
Steven Smith’s Crocs Ripple releases today on Complex for $90, and StockX already has listings at $200. For anyone who doesn’t know Smith’s work, he’s the legendary designer behind the New Balance 574, Reebok InstaPump Fury, and basically every Yeezy silhouette that mattered. Crocs hired him as Head of Creative Innovation last November, and this is his first design for the brand. The full-circle moment here is wild considering Smith’s Yeezy Foam Runner arguably brought Crocs-style foam footwear back into fashion in 2020.
Smith designed a completely new silhouette for this release, not a remixed Classic Clog. The Ripple uses proprietary Mellow foam with a TPU shank in the midfoot for stability. The shoe features separate panels creating a ripple effect on the sides, and unlike traditional Crocs, this has a slip-on sneaker construction. You can still add Jibbitz through perforations running down the upper, so customization’s intact.
Smith spent eight years at Yeezy before Kanye fired him in August 2024, and Crocs scooped him up three months later. The man’s portfolio includes the New Balance 550 and 1500, Fila Grant Hill signatures, Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Caged 2, and he’s literally called the “Godfather of Dad Shoes.” When someone with this resume designs their first shoe for a brand, people pay attention.
ComplexCon releases have a history of strong resale performance. The 2019 Takashi Murakami ComplexCon Crocs originally retailed for $85 and now sell for $441 on StockX with last sales at $526. Pleasures’ ComplexCon Crocs hit $500 on resale before restocking brought prices down. Limited convention drops create instant scarcity, and this one maxed out at 300 pairs total.
At $200 on StockX, profit sits around $86 after the platform’s 12% fee. Not massive, but decent for a $90 investment on a first-edition designer piece. eBay doesn’t have listings yet, which means ComplexCon pairs haven’t hit the secondary market hard. Early movers who cop could see better margins if supply stays tight before the 2026 global release.
Risk assessment: Complex hasn’t specified how many pairs are dropping. If it’s another limited batch similar to ComplexCon’s 300 total, demand should hold. If Complex floods the market, prices could normalize fast. The 2026 global release will definitely tank resale values long-term, so this is a flip-now situation, not a long-term hold.
Steven Smith’s reputation carries weight in sneaker circles. His first Crocs design sold out at ComplexCon in limited quantities, and early resale data shows solid demand at more than double retail. Friday’s Complex drop is your shot if you missed Vegas. Just remember this isn’t a long-term hold with a global release coming next year.
