The Rocky 50th Anniversary Staircase Popcorn Bucket will be sold at participating theaters from November 7 to 11

Collectable popcorn buckets regularly flip for 2 to 3 times retail on the secondary market

Half a century after Rocky Balboa ran up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, those steps are getting turned into a popcorn bucket. Sylvester Stallone’s Best Picture winner is heading back to theaters for a short 4K anniversary run, and the collectible that comes with it has already won over fans online. It’s a big, detailed sculpt built around one of the most recognizable scenes in movie history, which is a strong starting point for a flip. The catch is that we don’t have prices or a confirmed theater list yet. Here’s what we know so far and why this one belongs on your radar.

Rocky 50th Anniversary Re-Release Details

Rocky returns to theaters in a new 4K restoration for a five-day run through Fathom Entertainment, in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios and Park Circus. Screenings include an exclusive featurette for I Play Rocky, Peter Farrelly’s upcoming film about Stallone’s fight to get the original made and star in it himself.

The official design recreates the top of the museum steps, with a small Rocky figure in his gray sweatsuit standing at the edge with his arms raised and popcorn filling the landing below. It’s finished in a stone tan with a red Rocky logo on the front, and the reveal has drawn a positive reception from fans and collectors.

The bucket isn’t the only collectible. Fathom is also offering a 130 oz. round popcorn tin and a 44 oz. beverage cup, all sold only at select participating theaters. Fathom says availability and purchase limits will vary by location.

No theater chains have been confirmed yet. That said, Fathom is co-owned by AMC, Regal, and Cinemark, and its recent concession collectibles have landed across multiple chains. Fathom’s Amazing Digital Circus bucket got the same vague “participating theaters” announcement before Cinemark and Regal confirmed they’d carry it, so expect chain announcements closer to the run.

Will the Rocky Staircase Popcorn Bucket Resell?

Because of its size and detail, we expect this bucket to land on the higher end of the price range for collectible buckets, potentially retailing for as much as $50. That’s the same price as The Odyssey’s IMAX camera bucket, which flipped for several times retail.

Distribution is the biggest question mark. If this bucket rolls out across AMC, Regal, and Cinemark, that hurts resellers. Designs locked to a single chain, like AMC’s Sinners guitar case bucket, sell out faster and push demand online. On the other hand, this re-release only runs for five days, so overall stock should be fairly low and the window to buy at retail will be short.

Keep the bucket clean and in its packaging if you plan to flip it. There are no refunds on popcorn buckets, so this is final sale once you’re at the counter. If the resale market softens, you’re holding it.

Bottom Line

Keep this one on your radar and be ready to move. Collectible buckets tied to iconic films come with built-in demand, and a five-day window keeps supply tight. Watch for chain announcements and pricing in the weeks before November 7, and call your local theater before you go.
