The bucket retails for $28 at AMC theaters with a limit of two per customer
Early eBay sales show buckets moving in the $65 to $85 range with strong demand continuing
Available at 116 AMC locations nationwide but many theaters are already running low or sold out
We’ve got a simple, old-fashioned popcorn bucket flip courtesy of AMC. Guitar road case popcorn buckets are stocked at select theaters right now, and they’re already reselling for up to three times retail. Supplies will last long and you cannot buy these buckets online, so get a move on and secure some profit this weekend.
Ryan Coogler’s Sinners just landed 16 Oscar nominations and AMC is bringing it back to theaters today. To celebrate, they released this guitar road case popcorn bucket that looks like something a touring metal band would haul gear in. The design captures the film’s gritty aesthetic perfectly, designed to resemble a road-worn equipment trunk with an ’80s metal lunchbox vibe.
The bucket pays homage to the film’s themes about twin brothers (both played by Michael B. Jordan) returning home to escape their past. That backstory matters because collectors aren’t just buying a popcorn container, they’re buying into the cultural moment around a film that’s dominating awards season.
AMC clearly didn’t expect this level of demand. When they briefly listed it for sale on their webstore yesterday, it got pulled within an hour. A few people completed transactions during that window, but most buyers now need to hit up one of the 116 participating theaters to cop.
Check eBay sold listings and you’ll see early sales settling in the $65 to $85 range. That’s roughly 2.5X to 3X retail before fees, which is solid for a theater collectible. Keep in mind these are very early sales as awareness spreads.
Similar movie theater collectibles have shown us that prices typically climb as availability tightens. The initial online fumble from AMC created artificial scarcity that’s driving early demand even higher. Social media is already buzzing about the design and the limited theater availability.
After eBay’s 13% fees, you’re looking at roughly $45 to $60 profit per bucket if you can source at retail. Not massive money, but decent if you’re near a participating theater and can hit the two-bucket limit.
AMC posted a full list of 116 participating theaters across 29 states. Major markets like Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, and Dallas all have multiple locations. Check the AMC website for your nearest participating theater, but call ahead because stock is moving fast.
Some key clusters:
The bucket comes with popcorn, but don’t fill it. Keep it clean and if there’s any packaging, keep it intact.
If you’re near one of the 116 AMC locations and can grab the two-bucket max, this is a solid flip opportunity. The early resale numbers are promising and the limited availability should keep prices elevated in the short term. Just don’t go driving hours out of your way, the margins don’t support that kind of sourcing cost.
For collectors, this is one of the better-designed movie theater buckets we’ve seen recently. The road case aesthetic actually looks like something you’d want on a shelf, which matters for long-term value.
