It’s official: Naruto is getting an official trading card game from Bandai Namco, and it’s coming soon. Attendees to Gen Con 2026 in Indianapolis will be able to pick up promo cards for the new TCG well before it hits stores. The last time we saw an opportunity like this, resellers were cashing out for big money. Let’s get into it.

Bandai Namco's Naruto TCG is Real

Bandai Card Games revealed the Naruto Card Game today, a new strategy focused TCG built around Masashi Kishimoto’s manga. Series creator Kishimoto even released a statement for the occasion, which tells you Bandai is treating this as a flagship launch and not a side project.

This isn’t Naruto’s first trip through the TCG world. Bandai ran a Naruto Collectible Card Game from 2006 to 2013, but that was a different era of the hobby, well before grading culture and convention exclusives turned promo cards into four figure assets. The new game is launching into a market that already knows exactly what to do with a card like this.

The game launches worldwide in 2027, but Gen Con 2026 gets first contact. Select attendees will have the chance to take home an official Naruto Trading Card Game promo card before the game launches next year.

Gen Con Naruto TCG Promo Card

Gen Con 2026 runs July 30 through August 2 in Indianapolis, and that’s where the first Naruto Card Game Tutorial Sessions happen. The sessions are free, but you need a Gen Con badge to get in the building. Attendees who finish a session walk away with a gift set containing a CP-001 Chakra Card Gen Con 2026 Ver, a backpack, a sticker, and a voucher to buy the official playmat once it ships in 2027.

That Chakra Card is the entire opportunity here. It’s a Gen Con exclusive version of the first card in the entire game, tied to one of the biggest anime franchises on the planet, and it won’t exist anywhere else until Bandai decides otherwise. Tutorial Session registration opens June 21 through the official Gen Con website, and only one session counts per person no matter how many you reserve or attend.

Booth visitors who don’t land a tutorial slot can still pick up a backpack and sticker at the Naruto Card Game booth while daily supplies last, so even a missed session isn’t a total loss.

Naruto TCG Gen Con Cards Will Resell

We have a pretty good comparison to draw here. In 2023, Disney was beginning to tease the launch of its upcoming TCG Lorcana. During D23 2023, attendees could stop by the Lorcana booth and pick up seven-card booster packs containing special D23 promo cards.

Quantities were limited and sold out quickly each day of the con. It didn’t take long for them to resurface on eBay, and the prices were astounding. Individual cards were trading for as much as $500, while the sealed boxes could reach up to $1,000 in a bidding war. The resellers that chose to hold onto to their cards and get them graded came out in first, with some sales reaching nearly $4,000 for a single card. Did we mention these promo packs were only $50?

Now that Bandai is planning a similar promotion at Gen Con, you can see why most resellers are absolutely foaming for the opportunity.

Getting a session ticket is the hard part. Gen Con badges are required just to be in the room, and the cheapest single day options are Thursday and Friday at $83 each, with Sunday at $41. A 4-day badge runs $164. Badge registration is open now, but Gen Con’s refund window already closed on June 12, so anyone buying a badge solely for this should treat it as final before they pay. Any reseller in the Indianapolis area should seriously consider this opportunity.

Tutorial Session tickets themselves will likely move fast once registration opens, so set a reminder for June 21.

In related news, the New York Yankees might be joining the party as well. They are scheduled to give away “official” Naruto trading cards during their Naruto theme night on September 8. While it hasn’t been confirmed that these promo cards were produced by Bandai Namco, ticket prices for the game have risen from $40 to nearly $80 since Bandai announced the Naruto Trading Game.
