Limited Edition BTS Oreos Drop June 1

Announced today by Mondelez International, the OREO x BTS cookies are a legitimately personal collaboration. BTS designed the cookies themselves, leaning into their Korean heritage: the filling is a brown sugar pancake flavor inspired by hotteok, a popular Korean street food the band has childhood memories of.

The packaging pays homage to South Korean street market culture, and the cookies come with purple wafers, described as a first for the Oreo brand.

The 13 unique embossments are where it gets interesting for collectors. Each was designed by BTS to mark the band’s 13th anniversary, and the designs include individual member names, a BTS light stick, and a set of three cookies that spell out a hidden message to fans.

The specific embossments in each pack will vary, similar to what Oreo did with the Selena Gomez autograph variant last year. Rarity drives secondary market value, and BTS fans will absolutely be hunting for specific designs.

This is the part resellers should care about most. The presale opens June 1 on oreo.com, a full week before the cookies hit retailers on June 8. That gap is where the money is.

BTS is big. Really, really damn big. They have millions of fans on every continent who are willing to pay out the nose for unsigned CDs, branded guitar picks, and collectible light sticks to wave around at shows. Expect to see the initial drop to sell out near instantly on June 1, and expect to see packages of cookies reselling on eBay for $50 to $100 at a time.

Once general retail availability kicks in on June 8, prices will soften. The window between presale and retail rollout is where resellers will see the best margins. Get in early, list fast, and don’t hold long.

This will definitely be worth the effort, at least if you’re early. It’s hard to recommend making this a major play once these hit stores, but you’ll likely still see profits during the initial rollout. Good luck!
