Trader Joe's Summer Totes Are the First Flip of the Season

Trader Joe’s dropped the Summer Fun Mini Insulated Tote collection on May 20. The bags measure 10 by 6 by 6 inches with a 1.5-gallon capacity, zipper tops, and two reinforced handles. Six colorways are available: hot blue-and-green stripes, pastel red-and-pink stripes, and four neon two-toned designs: lime green with blue zipper, sunny orange with green zipper, ice blue with pink zipper, and floral violet with pink zipper.

Trader Joe’s will generally establish quantity limits for customers, but that’s up to the discretion of management. Try not to look like an obvious scalper. Stores are stocking the totes twice daily, once at opening and once in the afternoon, and busy locations are reportedly selling out within minutes of both restocks.

Trader Joe’s has been selling limited edition mini totes for years. From Halloween to Easter, fans of the brand pile in to snatch up stock while it’s available. These insulated summer totes are a new twist on an old cash cow, and resellers love TJ’s for it.

Individual bags are already listing on eBay in the $10 to $20 range. These are active asking prices since the drop only just landed, but prior Trader Joe’s insulated totes from the 2025 run sold in that same range, so the pricing is consistent with what the market has supported before. Full sets of all six colorways are already listing above $160.

The math on individual bags is solid. Buy six at $3.99 each and sell them for $15 apiece, and you’re clearing about $9.05 per bag after eBay’s 13% cut, or roughly $54 per store run. Resellers who can hit multiple locations stand to do very well.

One thing to flag: Trader Joe’s has a generally generous return policy, but some locations have reportedly cut the tags off totes at the register during past drops to discourage resale. That would make the bags ineligible for return, so be aware of your local store’s policy before committing to a large buy.

Get to your nearest Trader Joe’s as close to opening as possible, or time a return visit for the afternoon restock. Call ahead before you drive since stock disappears fast at busier locations. Complete sets will command the highest prices, but individual neon bags will find buyers easily on their own if you can’t grab all six colorways.
