Dune 3 70mm IMAX Tickets Are Reselling for Hundreds of Dollars

Dune: Part Three opens December 18, 2026, and Warner Bros. put a limited batch of IMAX 70mm tickets on sale today, eight months early. The move mirrors what Universal did with Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey last year. The result was predictable: 19 theaters worldwide, one prime showing per night at 7 p.m. local time across opening weekend (December 17–20), and most of them gone within minutes.

This is the first time in franchise history that Dune was shot with actual IMAX film cameras. Director Denis Villeneuve worked with Atlas Lens to build custom anamorphic lenses specifically engineered for the format. Only 30 theaters in the world can screen IMAX 70mm. 19 theaters will be screening the movie in the format during the opening weekend.

Here is the current picture. Nearly every 7 p.m. opening weekend showing is sold out. Three exceptions remain as of this publication: Cinemark Dallas IMAX, Cineplex Cinemas Vaughan in Toronto, and Cineplex Cinemas Langley in Vancouver. If you are near any of these, check availability immediately.

The 10:45 p.m. showing on opening night (December 17) is still available at most locations. These are moving fast too, and they will likely flip for a profit as well — just not at the same prices as the 7 p.m. showings. Expect $50 to $100 as a realistic resale range for late showings rather than the $150 to $250 the prime slots are commanding.

The key risk with the 10:45 p.m. showings: it is unclear whether attendees will receive the collectible film strip. Warner Bros. has only confirmed strips for the early showings, and the giveaway is explicitly “while supplies last.” If late showings do not include a strip, that meaningfully changes the value proposition for buyers on the secondary market. Price accordingly when you list.

Here’s the full list of participating theaters. Note that almost all of these have sold out of 7 PM showings and are rapidly selling out of 10:45 showings as well.

First-wave 7 p.m. tickets retailed for around $53 and are already reselling for $100 to $250 depending on the theater and date. At least one reseller was able to flip a bundle of five tickets for almost $1,000 today.

Every 7 p.m. ticket to these showings comes with a limited-edition collectible 70mm film strip, while supplies last. That strip is a separate resell opportunity worth knowing about even if you plan to attend and keep your ticket.

We covered this exact setup when Dune: Part Two ran the same promotion in 2024. Dune 2 film strips resold for around $100 on eBay, with Oppenheimer strips peaking around $200. Dune 3 strips should land somewhere in the $100 to $200 range, which more than covers the cost of attendance. Worst case, you watch one of the most anticipated films of the year on the best possible format and walk out with something worth more than you paid.

Check refund policies at your specific theater before purchasing resale. Most major chains allow refunds up to a few days before showtime, but tickets bought through secondary market platforms typically do not qualify. Buying a resale ticket for these inflated prices carries real risk if you cannot flip it or attend.

For the 10:45 p.m. showings specifically: the film strip uncertainty makes these a higher-risk buy on the secondary market. If you are listing late-showing tickets, be transparent about whether a strip is included. Buyers will ask.
