Retail price is $35 at Target (online and select stores)
Previous “Shiny Bug Edition” vinyl reselling for $70-$90+ on eBay
Limited one-time pressing with no reprints planned
Missed Friday’s signed CD chaos? Don’t stress. Target’s exclusive “Life of a Showgirl: The Crowd is Your King” vinyl is still sitting for $35, and previous limited pressing Swift vinyl have been flipping for solid returns. While everyone’s focused on the sold-out signed CDs, smart resellers are quietly securing these before they disappear too.
Target’s exclusive is billed as the “Crowd is Your King” edition, featuring a “Summertime Spritz Pink Shimmer” pressing with opaque pink and pale yellow pearlescent vinyl plus gold shimmer effects. The package includes a 24″ x 36″ double-sided poster, custom gatefold jacket with cutout disc reveal, full-size gatefold photo of Swift, and a unique poem she wrote specifically for this edition.
These also come with never-before-seen photos and a four-photo strip that’s exclusive to this variant. Target’s calling this a “first and only pressing,” meaning no restocks once it’s gone.
Swift’s previous limited vinyl drops have shown strong resell potential. The “Shiny Bug Edition” variants that sold out in under an hour back in August are currently flipping for $70-$90 on eBay, representing 100%+ margins over their original retail prices. Even the champagne vinyl variants are holding steady above retail.
What makes Target’s version particularly interesting is the retailer’s track record with Swift exclusives. Previous Target-only releases like special “Tortured Poets Department” variants have consistently outperformed standard editions on secondary markets, largely due to the limited quantities and exclusive packaging.
While Friday’s signed CD drop grabbed all the headlines and had resellers camping in checkout queues for hours, this Target vinyl flew under the radar. That’s created an opportunity for resellers who understand that Swift’s limited vinyl releases tend to appreciate regardless of the media attention they receive.
The timing works in your favor too. This releases October 3rd, the same day as the album, meaning you’ll have physical inventory to ship immediately rather than waiting months for presale items to arrive.
Target’s offering both online preorders and in-store availability at select locations. The safest bet is ordering online before the October 1st cutoff, but Target’s also doing midnight releases at about 500 stores nationwide on October 3rd.
The catch is the four-per-customer limit and U.S. shipping addresses only. Target’s been pretty strict about enforcing these limits on Swift releases, so plan accordingly.
This isn’t the guaranteed moonshot that Friday’s signed CDs represented, but it’s a solid opportunity while everyone else is distracted. Swift’s limited pressings have a consistent track record, and Target exclusives carry extra weight with collectors who know they won’t get another chance.
August’s Shiny Bug vinyl variants flipped for quick profits
The $35 entry point is reasonable enough that even modest appreciation puts you in profit territory after fees. And if this follows the pattern of previous releases, you’re looking at potential doubles once it sells out and people realize what they missed.
While others are paying $400+ for signed CD sets on eBay, you can still grab a confirmed limited pressing at retail. Swift’s vinyl track record speaks for itself, and Target’s exclusives have historically outperformed standard releases. The opportunity’s still there, but only until October 1st or sellout.
