DarcSport marked down almost their entire website to $0 on Thursday
17,000 0rders were processed, with many more failing to go through
Customers were limited to three discounted items
If you’re broke and looking for gymwear that will make you look like a huge tryhard, DarcSport has got you covered. To celebrate reaching 2 million followers on Instagram, the company marked down almost everything on their website to $0 for two minutes. Naturally, the site was flooded with customers. Many people missed the opportunity or were unable to check out in time, but many also picked up a deep, deep discount on some new clothes. Let’s take a look.
First, what is DarcSport? We first covered the brand last year, with their viral Dragon Ball Z collaboration selling out and reselling for bombastic prices.
To put it short, DarcSport is a line of gym and athletic wear that bears a distinctly edgy, gothic, “I’m-on-my-fifth-DUI” aesthetic for the refined roidhead. Like any clever brand, they’ve been running limited edition, hyped-up collections for the last few months (and making an absolute killing).
This week’s sale was a celebration of how far the brand has come. After reaching 2 million followers on Instagram, they announced they would be holding a special promotion for their biggest fans. For two minutes, almost everything on their webstore would be marked down to $0.
Notably, items from their most recent drops were exempted from the sale, and customers were limited to three items for the drop. DarcSport ended up delaying the sale a few times, but it eventually began at 2 P.M. PST on July 10.
To qualify, you’d need to be following @shedarcsport and @michaelcivil on Instagram and use the coupon code “ONLYWEWOULD” at checkout.
This was an incredibly rare opportunity for any fan of the brand or reseller, and we’re guessing tens of thousands of people slammed the site when the sale went live.
And many of these people ran into checkout issues. A quick perusal of DarcSport’s recent Instagram posts will show tons of angry comments from people that were meant with 10+ minute checkout times, essentially invalidating the sale.
It seems like a lot of folks attempted to push through to checkout anyways, only to end up paying full price for the items they expected to get for free. DarcSport hasn’t officially responded to the backlash (aside from posting catty retorts on their Instagram reel and deleting them).
But it’s hard to be too pissed at them. As many as 17,000 orders were successfully processed, likely totaling up to $1.5 to $2.5 million in free clothes. If you can find another company throwing around that kind of money for their fans, please show us.
And that’s who this drop seemed to benefit. As resellers, we were interested in this drop for the potential to make a profit, but there hasn’t really been a noticeable uptick in eBay sales for DarcSport clothing since the sale.
There’s still time though, and we’ll have to wait and see if any items in particular end up reselling. Oh, and while you’re here, it’s worth noting that DarcSport is about to launch their latest “Corazon” collection in just an hour.
The mood around the brand might be a little sour right now, but we’ve seen their fans pull up and spend heavy for the right gear. You might want to check out the collection for any items that catch your eye.
As always, make sure you’re subscribed to our newsletter if you’re looking to stay updated on the latest news in the reselling world. There are all kinds of products out there that flip for a profit, so stay subscribed and stay informed.
