Key Points

  • The Tudor Black Bay Chrono Pink retailed for $5,575 at launch in March 2024

  • Recent eBay sold listings from show consistent sale prices between $8,950 and $11,000 for unworn examples

  • Tudor never officially called this a limited edition but stated “few of them will ever be made”

Pink watches shouldn’t work. Especially not on a $6,000 dive chronograph aimed at collectors who typically stick to black, white, or blue dials. But when Tudor released the Black Bay Chrono in pink nineteen months ago, no one expected what they’d end up trading for.

Tudor's Pink Watch Explained

We don’t usually cover watches, but today is an exception. These sold out almost immediately, with gray market dealers asking $50,000 for a piece that retailed for $5,575. That’s not a typo—some dealers actually listed this thing for over $90,000 in those first few weeks. The market eventually cooled down, settling into the $12,000 to $20,000 range by mid-2024. Most hype watches would’ve crashed back to retail by now.

So what makes this pink dial chronograph different? The answer combines celebrity power, strategic scarcity, and Tudor’s understanding of exactly how to create lasting demand without technically calling something “limited edition.”

Tudor announced their partnership with Inter Miami CF on March 27, 2024, making them the official timekeeper for David Beckham’s MLS team. Beckham, a Tudor ambassador and Inter Miami co-owner, specifically chose pink as the team’s signature color to make them stand out. The next day, Tudor dropped the Black Bay Chrono Pink with almost no warning.

The timing was perfect. Beckham’s involvement gave the watch instant celebrity credibility. Inter Miami was already in the news thanks to signing Lionel Messi. Tudor also tied the watch to Jay Chou, a massive Taiwanese pop star who’s known for wearing pink and is another Tudor ambassador.

Nineteen months later, the Tudor Black Bay Chrono Pink is still flipping for $9,000-$11,000 on eBay. That’s a consistent 50-80% premium over its current retail price of $6,050. For context, most limited edition watches lose their premium within 6-12 months once the initial hype dies down.

Why Are They Still So Expensive?

Here’s where Tudor played it smart. They never said “limited to X units” or stamped “limited edition” on anything. Instead, they said “the Black Bay Chrono Pink might not be for everyone, and that’s OK because few of them will ever be made.” That phrasing does all the heavy lifting without making specific promises.

The watch also came on Tudor’s new five-link “Jubilee-style” bracelet with their T-fit micro-adjustment clasp, which was only available on a handful of models at launch. So even though the standard Black Bay Chrono exists in black and white dial versions for less money, this pink variant had exclusive features that justified the premium in collectors’ minds.

Add in the fact that it’s actually a solid watch—COSC-certified chronograph movement, 70-hour power reserve, 200m water resistance—and you’ve got something that’s not just hype. It’s a legitimate tool watch that happens to look wild on the wrist.

Let’s look at real numbers from recent eBay sales. Between July and September 2025, unworn examples with full box and papers sold for:

  • July 8, 2025: $8,950 (pre-owned but excellent condition)
  • September 19, 2025: $9,475 (brand new, unworn)
  • September 13, 2025: $11,000 (brand new with authenticity guarantee)
  • September 3, 2025: $9,500 (brand new 2025 dated card)

That’s a tight range with minimal variance, which tells you the market is stable and predictable. Compare this to other hyped watches from 2024—most are now selling below retail or barely breaking even. The Tudor Pink has maintained its premium month after month.

On Chrono24, the global watch marketplace, current asking prices range from $9,500 to $11,600 for unworn pieces. Some sellers are trying $12,000-$14,000, but those aren’t selling. The sweet spot appears to be $9,500-$11,000, and actual transaction data backs that up.

Tudor authorized dealers still get occasional allocations of the Pink Chrono, but they’re sporadic and usually go to top clients or people on waitlists. You can’t just walk into a Tudor dealer and buy one. That controlled supply is key to maintaining the secondary market premium.

Watch collectors call this “artificial scarcity,” but it’s more nuanced than that. Tudor is making enough to keep the model in their catalog and maintain interest, but not so many that everyone who wants one can get one at retail. It’s the same playbook Rolex has used for decades.

What This Means for Watch Resellers

First, the obvious: you can’t buy this at retail to flip unless you have an established relationship with a Tudor dealer and happen to get offered one. So this isn’t an actionable flip opportunity for most people reading this. But there are lessons here that apply to future releases.

Celebrity partnerships matter more than you’d think. The Beckham and Jay Chou connections weren’t just marketing fluff—they gave the watch a story that resonated beyond watch nerds. When you see a brand announce a new ambassador or partnership, pay attention to what products might come from that collaboration.

“Limited availability” beats “limited edition” for long-term value. Official limited editions have a known quantity, which means the market can price them efficiently. When availability is deliberately vague, it creates ongoing FOMO that sustains premiums longer.

Bold design choices create memorable products. Pink was a risk, but it made this watch instantly recognizable. In a sea of black and white dial chronographs, the pink dial stands out in photos and on the wrist. Memorable designs hold value better than safe ones.

Quality still matters. This isn’t some fashion watch with a quartz movement. It’s a proper chronograph with serious specs. The resale premium exists partly because it’s a legitimate tool watch that happens to look different, not just a novelty piece.

The Tudor Black Bay Chrono Pink is a case study in how to sustain resale value without relying on artificial hype or limited edition gimmicks. Nineteen months after release, it’s still flipping for $9,000-$11,000 against a $6,050 retail price. That’s a $3,000-$5,000 premium that’s held remarkably stable.

For resellers, this isn’t something you can act on today unless you already have one to sell or have access to retail allocations. But the lessons apply broadly: watch for brand partnerships with actual cultural relevance, pay attention to products with vague availability rather than hard edition numbers, and remember that bold design choices combined with solid fundamentals create lasting value.
