AMC and Regal are both selling them
BTS star Jungkook’s upcoming solo track “Seven” releases on July 15
Fans had the opportunity to buy a CD containing the single ahead of time
The CDs cost $5 and are reselling for $30
Around a week ago, we saw a peculiar CD release from BTS star Jungkook. To promote his upcoming single, “Seven”, a limited run of CDs with the song were produced and sold to fans. Yes, one song on one CD. If you know anything about BTS or their fans, you could have anticipated how quickly this sold out. Naturally, once the stock ran out from the BTS website, it didn’t take long at all for listings of the CDs to go up on eBay. Again, knowing BTS fans, the prices are remarkable.
Now for all you uncultured RC readers who aren’t up to date on the latest BTS news, here’s what you need to know:
One of the stars of BTS, Jungkook, is releasing a new single on July 15. The upcoming song was announced on June 29, and will be Jungkook’s fourth solo release, and what his label hopes to be the start of an “official” solo career.
While the song won’t be available for streaming until July, fans had an opportunity to buy a physical release ahead of time. A limited supply of “Seven” CDs were made available through BTS’ website the same day of the announcement.
The Jungkook “Seven” CD cost $2, and while it’s not clear how many of them were available for sale, we know that it took around 12 hours to sell out. Of course, that’s not where the story ends, because these CDs have been reselling on eBay for well over what they cost from BTS’ site.
At only $2 a pop retail, Jungkook’s Seven CDs are currently reselling for around $30 on eBay. Buyers were limited to four CDs per purchase, so its not like resellers were able to capture all of the stock. Still, there a decent amount of sales every day, and demand is solid.
Considering that the CDs are unsigned, and only contain a single track that will be released in a few weeks, the aftermarket for them is pretty remarkable. Really, its a testament to the determination of BTS fans, and their love of throwing money at stuff with a name on it.
Subscribe to our newsletter for updates on everything that resells. We’ve covered BTS merch in the past, and it tends to be pretty popular. While supply is usually high, the absolutely massive amount of demand balances things nicely.
