  • They are $270 and only available through certain Swatch stores

  • After selling out, they’ve resold for up to $500

Swatch and OMEGA are teaming up yet again for the latest iteration on their popular MoonSwatch series. Three new watches were available at select Swatch stores on June 15, and this time they are themed around Earth. As with the previous drops, this new series is is proving extremely popular. Long lines, sold out stores, and plenty of eBay sales. The resellers that got in early on this were able to make hundreds of dollars in profit. Let’s take a closer look.

Swatch Mission on Earth MoonSwatch Drop

Now, this is not the first, second, or even third time we’ve written about the MoonSwatch collection. If you’re not familiar, here’s a little TL;DR:

Back in 2022, Swatch and OMEGA teamed up to create the Bioceramic MoonSwatch line of quartz watches. These used Swatch’s internal technologies, but the styling was largely based on OMEGA’s Moonwatch. 11 different watches were available based on the various celestial bodies of our solar system.

The collection was a massive hit. Since then, limited edition spin-offs have been produced periodically. The first was the Mission to Moonshine drop, followed by two “Snoopy” variants that tied in with a full moon in March and the solar eclipse in April.

These exclusive “Missions” have been incredibly profitable for everyone involved. Swatch usually sells these for around $300, and they sell out within a few hours of the doors opening.

Resellers have taken notice as well, and have continuously raked it in. Swatch and Omega have clearly hit on a winning formula, and they’ve been smart enough not to mess with it.

Last weekend, there were three new “non-limited” (but definitely limited) additions to the MoonSwatch line dropped at select Swatch stores. These are all based on our very own planet Earth, and feature bold designs and color choices.

Swatch Mission on Earth Lava MoonSwatch

Inspired by the beauty of volcanoes and the rivers of lava that seem to glow with an intensity that defies the darkness of space, this fiery chronograph features unique details on its dial, honoring three additional iconic OMEGA models: the Speedmaster “Ultraman” and the Speedmaster Alaska II and III projects.

Swatch

This is certainly a looker. Bright orange and black make for a striking face, and the distinct colors are a nod to classic timepieces. The Mission on Earth “Lava” MoonSwatch was $270.

Swatch Mission on Earth Polar Lights MoonSwatch

Presented in a unique turquoise color, this chronograph mirrors the mesmerizing beauty of the Aurora Borealis, more commonly referred to as the Northern Lights. Its dark blue dial features silver-colored sparkles inspired by aventurine glass, creating a unique look for each watch. In celebration of the Speedmaster Alaska II and III projects, it features a unique detail on its subdials.

Clearly inspired by last month’s incredible displays over much of North America, the “Polar Lights” MoonSwatch is defined by a ghostly turquoise. The Mission on Earth “Polar Lights” MoonSwatch was also $270.

Swatch Mission on Earth Desert MoonSwatch

Echoing the vast desert sands that cover more than a fifth of the Earth’s land surface, this chronograph features a palette of light gray-beige tones. A unique detail on its subdials, pays homage to the Speedmaster Alaska II and III projects, in addition to the first watch on the moon.

Swatch

Swatch bills this color as “greige”, and the unique dusty tone of the watch’s face creates a subtler look, especially when compared to the stark blacks and colors we’ve seen previously. Like the other watches from the collection, the Mission on Earth “Desert” MoonSwatch was $270.

Style is a personal thing, so we’ll let you decide which of these you prefer. They’re all handsome watches, and Swatch’s Bioceramic material makes for a comfortable and durable timepiece in any situation.

What we can say definitely is that all the watches from this drop were popular. Swatch likes to list them as “non-limited”, but then only sells them at certain stores, on certain days, and there’s never enough to go around.

Expect to see lines out the door well ahead of opening times, and buyers will need to camp out all day just to have a chance at buying them. Generally, everything will be sold out by noon, even with a one-watch-per-customer policy.

After a few days, Swatch Mission to Earth MoonSwatches are now reselling for $400 to $500. It seems like the “Lava” and “Polar Lights” MoonSwatches were the most popular, while the “Desert” watches have about half the number of confirmed sales through eBay.

Swatch Mission Earth MoonSwatch for Sale

But prices between styles seem to be about the same. At $500, resellers stand to make about $200 in profit. That’s very good, don’t get us wrong, but it falls a bit short of the previous releases from the series, some of which we’ve seen go for nearly $1,000.

That’s not terribly surprising. With more watches to go around and no special angle this time, we didn’t expect to see them trade for the same prices. And that’s fine. $200 in profit for waiting in line for a few hours is well above minimum wage.
