Disney is selling Ren Legacy replica Lightsaber hilts for $300
They are limited to 5,000 units and still in stock
Resellers have managed to flip some for upwards of $450
Earlier this month, Disney added a new piece of premium merch to their Galaxy’s Edge gift stores. Collectable Ren Lightsaber hilts began appearing at stores and online, and we’ve seen some early sales for well over retail. It’s not too late to get in on this flip, as Disney has yet to sell out of them. With Christmas just around the corner, this might be the perfect gift for the Star Wars fan or reseller in your life. Let’s take a look.
Did you know that the Star Wars franchise is a pretty big business? Before Disney took over, revenues for the various merchandising and toy producers dwarfed ticket sales. Disney’s acquisition took things to another level, and we’re living in a golden age for overpriced Star Wars schlock.
Earlier this year, we covered D23 exclusive toys and lightsabers that flipped for thousands, and before that premium starfighter models from Jazwares.
Today we’re looking at another piece of collectable Star Wars merch, the Ren Legacy Lightsaber Hilt. These are high-quality replicas of the lightsabers used by Knights of Ren, built from premium materials with an attention to detail.
Just 5,000 have been produced, and each one comes with a certificate of authenticity. In addition to the hilts, the package includes an attractive metal case and copy of the comic book “Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren #1” with a variant cover.
Star Wars Ren Legacy Lightsaber Hilts are $300. They are available either from Disney’s online store or at gift shops at Galaxy’s Edge.
As of this publication, Disney has not yet sold out of them. Generally, these limited edition merch drops are allocated fairly evenly between online and brick-and-mortar sales, so we’re expecting to see them sell out soon.
Surprisingly, we’ve already seen a handful of sales for these hilts even before they’ve sold out. Generally, expensive merch like this takes some time to flip for a profit, so early interest is a very good sign.
Right now, Ren Legacy Lightsaber Hilts are reselling for upwards of $400. Most of these sales were for presale listings, meaning sellers were putting their items up for sale even before the retailer loaded them.
Overall, pretty decent profits for an easy flip. This isn’t something you need special connections or advanced notice to buy; anyone can get in on this with the right info.
Is it worth buying? Good question. These hilts have been out for a few days now, and while these sales are a good sign, the market is not burning hot.
Note that Disney does offer full refunds for this product, as long as it is returned within 30 days of receipt. This takes most of the risk out of the equation, as you can always return the product if it fails to resell.
And that’s pretty much the whole story. We’ve given you the facts, and we’ll let you make up your own mind if you want to jump in on this.
