Now that D23 is over, exclusive merch is reselling
The Star Tours StarSpeeder Replica is flipping for about $1,000 ($300 retail)
Signed Clone Wars Lightsaber sets are reselling for more than $3,000 ($550 retail)
Last week, we covered a great opportunity for resellers to score some serious cash at D23 2024. Exclusive Star Wars merchandise was available for sale both in person and online, and some of it was produced in some very limited numbers. We had very high expectations for these items after the weekend, and we are not disappointed. In the last few days we’ve seen some of them flip for four, five, even six times more than they retailed for, with resellers netting quadruple digit profits. Let’s get into it.
Well, the weekend is dead and buried, and D23. If you didn’t hear, D23 2024 was held at the Anaheim Convention Center, giving Disney nerds from around the world the opportunity to blow out their wallets.
Resellers are keenly aware of D23 Expos because of the exclusive merch released at them. You can read our articles on Lorcana’s original release at D23 2022 and the recent D23 2024 Promo Packs. And of course, make sure you check out our original coverage of the rare Star Wars toys sold last weekend.
But here’s a TL;DR. There were two pieces of D23 exclusive Star Wars merchandise we were focusing on last week: D23 Clone Wars Signed Lightsaber Hilts, and D23 Star Tours StarSpeeder Replicas.
Both of these were limited to 3,000 units each, and were extremely hyped ahead of the weekend. They could be purchased at booths during the Expo for $550 and $300 respectively, but would also be sold online on August 12 after the Expo ended.
Obviously, these were not easy buys. D23 tickets were sold out for months before the event, and however many toys that actually made their way online sold out very, very fast.
A lightning-fast sell out time should tell you all you need to know about what these are looking like on eBay. Even though it’s been less than a week since these products went live, we’ve seen several sales stretching into the quadruple digits.
Right now, a D23 Star Wars Clone Wars Signed Lightsaber set is reselling for around $3,000, after retailing for $550. We’ve seen a decent number of sales for these, and most resellers are currently listing theirs for upwards of $6,000.
$2,500 or so in profit is good. Really, really good, no matter who you are or what you like flipping. What’s great about this lightsaber set is that it included signatures from three major voice actors from the animated series, making it highly desirable for serious collectors.
Meanwhile, the D23 Star Tours StarSpeeder Replicas are reselling for about $1,000 right now. These are definitely not as hyped as the lightsabers, but it’s still a remarkably profitable item considering how niche it is.
We’ll take that any day of the week. If you want to learn more about flipping, catch opportunities like this before they happen, and stay updated on developments in the world of reselling, subscribe to our newsletter. We’ll see you on the next one.
