Stanley's Dia de Muertos Collection Is Reselling

After a string of flops, Stanley might have recaptured collector interest

Key Points

  • Quencher H2.0 FlowState tumblers retailed between $40 and $55 depending on size and sold out fast

  • Resale prices hover around $50 over MSRP, with the 30oz Midnight Catrina hitting $90 to $100

  • Stanley gave Latin American customers early access to the drop before opening it to everyone else, creating additional exclusivity around the release

Stanley just dropped two limited edition Dia de Muertos colorways, and they’re already moving on the secondary market. Many resellers have written off the brand by now, but this might be the first sign Stanley’s finding their footing again.

Stanley Sunrise / Midnight Catarina Tumblers

The brand released Midnight Catrina and Sunrise Catrina across multiple sizes, with Latin American customers getting early access before the wider release. Both colorways sold out quickly, which is a refreshing change for a brand that’s been struggling to generate the same hype it had during peak Stanley mania.

Stanley’s been in rough shape lately. The brand that couldn’t keep tumblers in stock six months ago has been watching product sit on shelves. Target clearance racks have been full of Stanley cups that used to flip for double retail. The hype died down, and resellers moved on to other opportunities.

This latest collection looks like the first sign of a turnaround, eschewing brand collaborations for in-house design. The attractive colors and patterning made this desirable, and we’re in the perfect part of the year to start hawking Halloween-adjacent merch (yes we know Dia de Muertos isn’t the same thing as Halloween).

eBay’s showing solid movement on both colorways. The Midnight Catrina in the 30oz size is the clear winner, with sold listings confirming $90 to $100 prices. Sunrise Catrina is moving slightly slower but still clearing $80 to $90 for the same size.

Smaller sizes are seeing more modest gains, around $30 to $40 over retail, but they’re moving consistently.

One successful drop doesn’t mean Stanley’s back to their peak, but it’s a step in the right direction. The brand clearly learned something from their recent struggles. Limited quantities, attractive designs, and early access for the target demographic created actual scarcity instead of manufactured hype.

If Stanley keeps this approach with future collabs instead of flooding every Target and Walmart, they might rebuild some of that secondary market value. For now, this is a decent flip if you managed to cop, but don’t expect Stanley to return to their 2023 resale values anytime soon.
