Key Points

  • Retail will likely be upwards of $150

  • Only 1,337 units will be produced globally, with unit #1,337 signed by the CEO

  • Releasing in “early 2026”, more details will emerge soon

Razer announced they’re bringing back the Boomslang, the mouse that literally started the gaming peripheral industry 20 years ago. It features the same form factor as the original, but juiced internals on par with the company’s most elite offerings. These are highly limited, and one lucky winner will receive an autographed edition. Here’s what you need to know to secure one.

Razer 20th Anniversary Boomslang

The original Boomslang changed everything when it dropped in 1999. Before Razer, gamers were stuck using whatever office mouse came with their Dell. The Boomslang was the first mouse built specifically for competitive gaming, and it launched the entire gaming peripheral industry we know today.

It took its name from a mouse-hunting snake, and catapulted Razer into the forefronts of gamer’s minds everywhere. You can still find archived reviews from 1999 praising the mouse’s performance and form factor.

Fast forward to 2026, and Razer is celebrating two decades since the company was founded. The anniversary edition Boomslang combines the classic design with modern internals, creating exactly the kind of collectible that gaming enthusiasts and resellers both go crazy for.

Unfortunately we don’t have any hard details on pricing yet. Based on comparable Razer mice, a $150 MSRP seems pretty likely. Of course, they might bump the price even further to capitalize on the moment.

Razer also hasn’t revealed their exact release strategy, which actually matters a lot for your prep. Based on how they’ve handled previous limited releases, there are four scenarios in order of likeliness:

Queue System: You get in a virtual waiting room, then access the product page when it’s your turn. Less frantic than a direct sale, but you’re still racing against 1,337 units globally.

Raffle via EQL or Similar: You enter during a window, winners get purchase rights. This levels the playing field but also means luck matters more than speed.

Direct Sale: First-come, first-served through Razer’s website. This usually means you’ll need to be ready right when the page goes live, and checkout speed is everything.

Loyalty System: It’s possible but pretty unlikely that Razer will restrict purchases to customers with a verified account that’s already made purchases. If you’ve already bought a Razer product, use that account for the drop.

Razer has opened email notifications for the Boomslang Anniversary edition on their website. We strongly recommend signing up for those so you stay informed.

Will the Anniversary Boomslang Resell?

Absolutely. With only 1,337 units and the Boomslang’s historical significance, expect strong demand from three buyer groups: gaming collectors, Razer enthusiasts, and people who want a piece of esports history. That’s a solid foundation for resale value.

We’ve seen competitive gaming equipment resell quite a few times in the past. Finalmouse is the obvious example, with their iconic mice and keyboards often flipping for $300 to $400 over retail price. Even mousepads can resell under the right conditions.

Finalmouse Centerpiece Pro Keyboard for Sale

The numbered editions will matter. Unit #1 and unit #1,337 (the CEO-signed one) will command serious premiums, possibly $500 or more over retail. Low serial numbers under 100 should also fetch extra. Mid-range serials will still flip well, probably $200 to $400 over whatever retail ends up being.

How to Get a Boomslang Anniversary Mouse

Create or log into your Razer account this week. Make sure your payment info and shipping address are saved. When limited drops go live, checkout speed determines who eats and who goes home empty-handed.

Enable notifications on Razer’s social media accounts. Twitter and Instagram are where they typically announce exact drop times and methods. Sign up for email notifications too.

Set aside $200 to $250 for this. We’re estimating $150+ retail, but Razer could price it higher given the limited nature and premium positioning.

Bottom Line

This is exactly the kind of release that separates casual flippers from people who actually understand collectible gaming gear. The Boomslang name carries weight in the gaming community that goes beyond normal product releases. Combined with the strict 1,337 unit limit and CEO signature on the final unit, this has all the markers of a strong secondary market performer.

Start preparing now. Get your Razer account sorted, enable those notifications, and watch for the official announcement on drop mechanics. When Razer reveals whether it’s direct sale, queue, or raffle, you’ll want to be ready to move fast.
