Odyssey's Damascus Putters Are Selling Out Right Now

The Odyssey Damascus Milled line is Odyssey’s most serious push into the boutique putter market to date. Damascus steel is created by layering 61 sheets of two different steel types and twisting them to create the distinct wavy pattern the material is known for. The result on these putters is that the insert and sole plate of each club look completely different from every other one in the drop.

Beyond looks, the performance case is strong. Odyssey’s R&D team engineered the back of the insert with AI-contouring to promote consistent ball speeds across the milled face. The feel profile is intentionally firmer and louder than Odyssey’s typical insert-based releases, which is exactly what a lot of tour players have been asking for. The putters have been in tour bags since the Cognizant Classic earlier this year and are reportedly drawing strong feedback.

The first drop covers the No. 7 head shape in two hosel configurations: a single-bend (DB) and a crank hosel (CH). Both retail for $699, which is expensive for an Odyssey but not out of line with what boutique milled putters typically go for. Each comes with an SL90 shaft, a new Rubber Tour Pistol grip co-designed with Golf Pride, and a premium quilted headcover with sherpa leather.

Let’s be honest: there are no sold comps yet. These are preorders that ship May 5, so the secondary market hasn’t had a chance to form. Anyone buying one right now is making a bet, not booking a confirmed profit.

That said, the bet has a reasonable basis. Odyssey has been here before. In 2023, a limited run of Odyssey Jailbird 380 putters sold out and flipped for double MSRP after Keegan Bradley, Wyndham Clark, and Rickie Fowler all won major tournaments using the club. The resell window opened fast and closed fast. The Damascus line has a similar setup: limited supply, tour-validated performance, and a visual hook that’s hard to ignore.

If a prominent tour player wins with one of these in hand over the next few weeks, resellers who got in early could be looking at several hundred dollars over retail. If nothing happens on tour, demand will be softer. That’s the gamble.

One thing in buyers’ favor: these appear to qualify for Odyssey’s standard return policy, which meaningfully reduces the downside. If you can’t flip it at a profit, you’re not necessarily stuck with it. Confirm the return window before purchasing, as preorder terms can sometimes differ from standard retail.

Preorders are live now through Odyssey’s website. The crank hosel variant is already sold out, so the only one still available to purchase is the double bend. We don’t expect these to remain in stock much longer, so make up your mind soon.

Given the return policy, your main risk is the time between purchase and receiving the putter. Watch tour coverage between now and delivery. A win from a player using one of these will push prices up fast.
