When Disney released officially released their trading card game, Lorcana, they made the commendable decision to do so through local game stores (LGS) first. These smaller stores were able to start selling Lorcana products on August 18th, whereas big box stores would have to wait until September 1st to sell theirs — over a full 2 weeks later.

To do the release this way was a very deliberate, seemingly firm decision on the part of Ravensburger and Disney. So, it came as a major surprise when Reddit user u/dit_le_renard posted a photo to the r/Lorcana subreddit showing multiple Lorcana products for sale on the shelves of their local Walmart… a full week early.

This first sighting reportedly happened at a Walmart in South Carolina. And while it could normally have been attributed as a fluke caused by a misinformed 3rd party vendor (Walmart commissions outside companies to stock their trading cards), it seems that the cards have now been found at other locations across the country, too.

One of our sources was able to find cards Friday afternoon at a Walmart in Boise, Idaho — a store thousands of miles away from the South Carolina location, meaning the early release contagion is widespread.

As of Friday night on August 25th, sightings have been reported in South Carolina, Florida, Idaho, and Louisiana.

So, unless Mickey Mouse or Ravensburger steps in to put a stop to this (accidental?) early rollout, you might wanna check your local Walmart before this very in-demand release is sold out.
