Backrooms opens in US theaters tomorrow, May 29, projected for a $50 million opening weekend. A24 decided the right way to celebrate was to sell you the actual wallpaper. The dank, yellow, fluorescent-lit corridors of the Backrooms are now available for your home office, bedroom, or anywhere you want to make a little more liminal. This is a clever promo play timed to the film’s release, and it may not stay available for long once the hype window closes.

The Backrooms wallpaper is a self-adhesive peel-and-stick product sold in 30″-wide panels. A24 built a room calculator into the product page so buyers can figure out exactly how many panels they need to cover a wall.

A single panel starts at $60 for 48″ tall and scales up to $161 for a 144″ segment. For buyers who want to test the waters first, $12 sample panels are available separately through the A24 shop.

The product is categorized under Collectibles on A24’s site, which is telling. This is being positioned as a film collectible as much as actual home decor, and that framing matters for resale potential.

Will These Panels Resell?

Here is the honest take: this is not a slam-dunk flip. The wallpaper is made-to-order and not a limited run, so A24 can theoretically print as much as demand requires. Secondary market value depends almost entirely on how long A24 keeps the orders open. If they close the store after the film’s opening weekend, that changes the math considerably. If it stays available indefinitely, prices stay flat.

The samples are the smarter gamble. At $12 retail, you are not overexposed, and a few sold listings at $30 to $50 post-premiere would represent a clean flip with minimal outlay. Film fans who missed the ordering window or just want a piece of the opening weekend moment are the likely buyers. Picking up two or three samples today is a low-risk way to play this.

Full panels are a bigger bet. A $60 to $161 outlay with no returns accepted means you need conviction that demand will outpace supply before placing that order. If the film overperforms and A24 closes the shop, panels could move at a multiple. If the shop stays open indefinitely, you are holding wallpaper.

One more thing worth noting: A24 members get 10% off through the AAA24 membership program, which slightly improves the margin math if you are already subscribed.

Backrooms Official Popcorn Buckets

On the topic of Backrooms collectibles, the film also has a popcorn bucket situation worth knowing about. Unlike the wallpaper, there is no official retail version for sale. Instead, A24 and Regal partnered to release free CAD files so fans can 3D print their own hazmat-suited figure bucket at home. Bring a printed version to a Backrooms opening weekend screening and Regal will hand you a free small bag of popcorn.

Regal is also running a sweepstakes for a pre-printed and painted version of the bucket, which Regal has valued at $250. Entry requires following @regalmovies on Instagram and tagging someone in the post by May 29.

We covered a similar setup with Markiplier’s Iron Lung popcorn bucket, which also used 3D-printed files rather than a retail product. The secondary market for those trended toward the people willing to do the printing and finishing work. Expect the same dynamic here. Painted, finished versions of the Backrooms bucket will command a premium over raw prints, and Regal’s pre-printed giveaway unit at $250 sets a rough ceiling for what buyers will pay without doing the work themselves.
