NECA Scream Figures Resell Ahead of NYCC

Earlier this week, a limited supply of Scream figures went on sale through NECA. The exclusive design will also be debuted at New York Comic Con in October, but this pre-sale was an opportunity for collectors to buy in before the convention. For three days, a different NYCC exclusive would go up on NECA’s site every morning at 9 A.M. Pacific. For three days, the figures would sell out in under ten minutes each time. Now these Scream figures are reselling at a significant markup.

Ghostface Takes Manhattan NECA Figures

October is drawing near with every day, and we’ve seen lots of spooky merchandise hitting stores. Starbucks seasonal drink cups are stocking, Target has a new line of Halloween-themed birds, and NECA is taking full advantage of the season with their latest Scream figures.

necaonline.com (National Entertainment Collectibles Association) is a New Jersey based collectibles manufacturer that produces designs for a variety of movies and IPs. They’ll have a booth at the upcoming New York Comic Con in October where they’ll be selling some con-exclusive merch.

One of these is the “Ghostface Takes Manhattan” figure. This 7″ figure is based on Scream VI, and includes a number of features sure to excite a fan of the series. The figure is fully articulated, includes five different masks and hands, two knives, and a Statue of Liberty prop.

These Scream action figures are a NYCC exclusive, and are building quite a bit of hype ahead of the con. That said, NECA has made a limited number of them available outside of NYCC. On September 13, 14, and 15, NECA held a limited sale of some of their NYCC-exclusive merch through their site. Their Scream figures were sold on September 13.

They went up for sale at 9 A.M. Pacific for $40, and were sold out in under ten minutes. Fans of the series praised the figures for their detail and extensive customization, and the exclusive nature of the figures made them more appealing.

Because of this quick sell out, many fans that were hoping to get one missed out. Of course, that doesn’t mean they’re totally out of luck. There’s always a friendly reseller just around the corner willing to help.

NECA Scream Figures Resell

Well, there’s a month left until NYCC, and the pre-sale for these figures is closed, meaning that the figures in circulation are pretty rare. For the impatient, and those who aren’t planning on a trip to NYCC, buying one on the aftermarket is the only way to go.

Right now, a NECA Scream figure is reselling for around $100 to $150. There haven’t been a ton of sales, but supply seems to be low enough for that to make sense. It may take a few weeks, but we can expect more sales to tick in over time.

Additionally, the price of these figures is likely to rise after NYCC. It makes sense that collectors are holding out for now since they’ll have another chance to buy these at retail, but after the con they’ll have no choice but to buy from a reseller.
