Key Points

  • Miller produced 200 copies of a dive bar-themed vinyl

  • They sold for $18 in three batches

  • Resellers are flipping them for $250 to $350

Earlier this month, Miller High Life added to their tongue-in-cheek Dive Bar collection with a new vinyl record. “Dive Bar Sounds” is a seven-track EP injected with yellow liquid made to resemble Miller’s Champagne of Beers, and features a mixture of ambient noise and jukebox tunes you’d find at your local dive. Like the brand’s previous releases, this was extremely limited and hotly contested by collectors. Resellers jumped on the drop, and now we’re seeing the vinyl flip for ten to fifteen times MSRP.

Real boozers know there’s something special about the humble dive. The bartop might be a little sticky and you should definitely make sure your shoelaces are tied before stepping foot in the bathroom, but you can get cheap beer and good pours without any pretense.

Miller High Life clearly understands this, because they’ve been spinning up limited edition merch celebrating dive bars. In December, they released their “Dive Bar-Fume“, mixing the scents of popcorn, leather, and beer into a cologne.

And now they’ve returned to the concept with the “Dive Bar Sounds” vinyl. This liquid-filled vinyl features seven original tracks composed by Brendan Lynch-Salomon. The music is technically ambient; muted conversations, beer pouring, and 80s rock riffs merge together into a single, seedy soundscape.

The liquid in the vinyl is not actually Miller High Life, but it sure looks like it. Liquid-filled vinyl has become a bit of a trend over the last few years, with bands like Mötley Crüe and Fall Out Boy spinning up EPs injected with various bodily fluids.

Miller sold these vinyl through three separate online drops for $18. Each sale was highly limited, and the total stock was capped at just 200 units. It wasn’t easy to buy, but definitely worth the effort.

With so few records made and so many Miller High Life drinkers competing over them, it was practically guaranteed that this drop would sell out. We expected to see them resell, but the prices we’re seeing are way out of our estimates.

Right now, Miller High Life Bar Sounds vinyl are reselling for around $300 at a time, with some sales coming in for $350. There’s not a ton of sales to go off, but what we’ve seen is pretty damn compelling.

Resellers that got in on this drop stood to make around $250 in profit from a single flip. That’s certainly good enough for us, hopefully it’s good enough for you.
