Hobby Lobby has revealed a Grinch-themed Christmas tree
They have already gone viral on TikTok and begun to sell
Holiday decorations have been quite profitable flips in the past
That’s right, we’re talking about Christmas during the hottest summer in recent years (funny how every summer is like that now). Take your mind off the heat with today’s topic: Christmas trees. Yes, the centerpiece of wintertime decor could also be your ticket a few extra bucks towards the holidays. How? Why? When? Read on, and we’ll be giving our thoughts on why these Christmas trees may be the move this summer.
First, the basics. Hobby Lobby is making a Grinch themed Christmas tree. It’s made out of plastic (obviously), and resembles the trees seen in Dr. Seuss’ work. Namely that it has a big crook near the top. The Grinch Christmas tree also includes built-in lights.
While it might seem a bit niche, the trees are proving quite popular on TikTok. Right now, the “Hobby Lobby Grinch Christmas tree” topic has nearly 5 million views, and people are already gushing about the decoration. Who would have known people got this excited about Christmas in July?

Naturally, this type of stir is catching the eye of resellers. Products like these can be quite profitable to flip, and since we’re still many months away from the holidays, there’s plenty of time to stock up. The Grinch Christmas trees are being sold in Hobby Lobby stores right now for $150, but they’ve yet to appear on the store’s website.
In fact, holiday decorations are an exceptional opportunity for resellers. These products are produced months in advance, but only sold in major numbers just in time for the holiday. What this means is that by the time the season has come around, suddenly everyone is on their feet buying decorations. Manufacturers can’t anticipate that kind of demand ahead of time, so products end up selling out.
And because these are a once-a-year type purchase, they won’t be restocked until after the holiday. That means resellers can make huge profits by selling sold out products to people who were too slow to get them at retail.
If you want an example, you can just look at Halloween decorations. We’ve covered these in a recent article, but the TL;DR is pretty straightforward: product is produced in limited numbers and sold early in the year, then goes viral and sells out towards the holiday. When that happens, profit is all but guaranteed for the resellers who stocked up in August.
These Halloween decorations are two years old, but resell for triple their retail price
We’re seeing that kind of viral attention right now, months before Christmas. Of course, it’s up to you to make up your mind on whether these are worth going for, but we have to say they’re looking pretty good.
If you do end up buying a Grinch Christmas tree, keep shipping costs in mind. While they aren’t gigantic, they’re a bit less wieldy than a pair of shoes. If you live in a city, try to make local sales to skip the hassle. Otherwise, be prepared to lose a bit on shipping fees.
