Purchase a 25- or 50-count MUNCHKINS order on March 20 to receive a free “I Dough” ring box
Each store is expected to receive between 5 and 15 boxes, making sellouts likely within the first hour
The Dunkin’ x Vera Wang “Something Brewed” merch collection drops the same day with prices from $22 to $52
Dunkin’ is leaning all the way into National Proposal Day this year with a limited-edition “I Dough” ring box that doubles as a MUNCHKINS container and a novelty proposal prop. The catch: it’s free with a qualifying order, only available on March 20, and allocated in small quantities per store. That combination tends to go one direction on the secondary market.
On March 20, any participating Dunkin’ location will hand over a free “I Dough” ring box with the purchase of a 25- or 50-count MUNCHKINS order. A 25-count runs around $8. The box is designed to hold one of Dunkin’s new Wedding Cake MUNCHKINS (glazed blueberry cake donut holes with wedding cake-flavored sprinkles), but obviously the bigger story for resellers is the box itself.
Supply is expected to be tight. Stores are anticipated to receive somewhere between 5 and 15 boxes each, and with how quickly novelty fast food collectibles move on social media, most locations will probably be cleaned out before lunch.
Dunkin’ has a track record of generating resell interest with limited promotional items. The “I Dough” branding, the Vera Wang tie-in, and the timing around engagement season all give this one real shelf appeal for collectors of fast food memorabilia.
The $8 entry cost on a 25-count order is low enough that the risk is minimal. You get donuts and a shot at a flip. Based on where similar novelty fast food collectibles have landed, the “I Dough” box looks like a $50 to $100 flip in the short term, and potentially higher if the Vera Wang contest angle gets significant social media traction.
The Vera Wang contest runs from March 20 through April 3, where fans who incorporate the ring box into a proposal video can enter to win a bridal gown fitting at her New York or Beverly Hills salon. That’s six weeks of organic promotion keeping the box in the news cycle, which is a good sign for resell momentum.
There’s no refund risk here beyond the $8 you spend on MUNCHKINS, which you’re eating anyway. The box itself is a freebie. Even if it bricks, you’re out nothing except a little time.
Separately, Dunkin’ and Vera Wang are dropping a “Something Brewed” merch capsule on March 20 at 10 a.m. ET at DunkinRunsonMerch.com, with prices ranging from $22 to $52. The collection includes a Vera Wang x Dunkin’ collab robe ($48), glass tumbler ($22), plus sweatshirts, pajama sets, and tote bags. These could move for a modest profit if they sell out quickly, but they aren’t the main event here. The ring box is the play.
Get to your nearest Dunkin’ early on March 20, order the 25-count MUNCHKINS, and grab as many boxes as the store will give you. At $8 a pop for the order, the floor on this is a bag of donuts. The ceiling depends on how much the internet decides to care, but early indicators suggest it’s going to care quite a bit.
