Bratz is dropping a Mean Girls collection
There are four dolls in total, each dropping on a separate date in October
Cady Heron dolls have already dropped for $60, now flipping for $300+
Correction: A previous version of this article included a typo with Lindsay Lohan’s name, which we have corrected. We would like to thank the Bratz subreddit for pointing this out. We would also like to thank them for sharing our work, helping drive traffic to our site and assist other resellers secure these products.
Finally, we’d like to give a sincere shout out to all the Bratz collectors that are willing to overpay for their favorite dolls. Support your local small business, and buy from a reseller. Thank you.
Earlier this month, the first doll in a four part Mean Girls X Bratz collection dropped online. Prices were high, stocks low, and both collectors and resellers would fight over the new doll. They sold out fast, of course, and now they’re hitting eBay for some seriously inflated prices. Bratz fans might not be happy, but resellers sure as hell are. Let’s take a look.
It’s been more than 20 years, but 2004’s “Mean Girls” is somehow still relevant. Stuck culture enjoyers scored another huge victory with this year’s film adaptation of the Broadway show, and now Bratz has cashed in on the opportunity.
Starting this month, four Bratz dolls based on the Mean Girls cast will be released online only. These include main character Cady Heron, played by Lindsay Lohan, Regina George, Gretchen Wieners, and Karen Smith.
The first to be released was Cady Heron. These Bratz X Mean Girls dolls went up for sale on October 3 for $60.
Featuring a unique face sculpt and two outfits inspired by the film, bonus accessories, and a certificate of authenticity, these dolls were enormously popular among Bratz collectors. They sold out very fast, and it didn’t take long for them to reappear on eBay.
Yep, if you had a little free time last week and wanted to make some easy money, this was a great way to do it. This release has been one of the most profitable dolls we’ve covered in the last year.
Right now, Cady Heron Bratz X Mean Girls dolls are reselling for more than $300 at a time. Since last week’s sale, we’ve recorded a ton of sales through eBay alone, and they don’t seem to be slowing down yet.
For the resellers that managed to snag one, the first Mean Girls Bratz doll came out to $200 or so in straight up profit. Obviously, local sales can stretch that money even further.
But things are just getting started. The Cady Heron dolls were the first part of a larger collection, and two more drops are scheduled for October.
If you missed out on last week’s doll, you still have a chance to capture some of this profit before it disappears. Three more dolls will be selling in October, and the next release will likely be the most profitable.
Bratz X Mean Girls Regina George dolls will drop on October 17. Like the Cady Heron dolls, these will cost $60 and produced in highly limited numbers. Customers are limited to one, and judging by how fast the last drop sold out we wouldn’t expect to snag more than that.
We’re anticipating the Regina George Bratz dolls to be at least as popular as the Cady Heron dolls, if not more. This is a drop every reseller should be going for.
Finally, the Karen and Gretchen Bratz dolls will both go up for sale on October 31st. Like the rest, they’ll be $60 and very limited.
These will likely not be as profitable as the first two dolls. We still expect them to resell, but probably closer to the $100 to $150 range. We also recommend selling each doll individually, rather than as a full collection. This tends to be more profitable overall, although it’s a bit more of a hassle.
If you’re on the fence, remember that MGA offers 30 day refunds for this entire collection. This takes most of the risk out of the equation, allowing you to buy on release day and either flip the doll for a profit or send it back if things don’t work out.
Our advice? Buy. Definitely go for the Regina George dolls, and consider going after the Gretchen and Karen Bratz dolls too if the hype continues. There’s very little risk here and a lot of potential profit, so don’t let this opportunity pass you up.
