Moog Music just announced the Bob Moog Tribute Edition Minimoog Model D, a limited production run honoring the company’s founder and the man behind some of the most important synthesizer technology ever made. Bob Moog developed the original Minimoog Model D in the early 1970s, and the instrument shaped the sound of pop, funk, electronic, and rock music for decades.

Functionally, this tribute unit is identical to Moog’s 2022 Minimoog reissue: fully analog signal path, 44-key Fatar keybed with aftertouch, MIDI support, spring-loaded pitch wheel, and the legendary 24 dB/octave Ladder Filter that defined the instrument’s character. The cosmetic changes are where this one stands out. It ships with a custom quartersawn white oak cabinet and a photo-anodized decal on the rear panel honoring Bob Moog specifically. Each unit also comes with a semi-rigid transport case.
