Bear Walker has spent years making the case that skateboards can be art. Now he’s making it with guitars. The Alabama-based craftsman just has opened orders for limited run of Red-Eyes Black Dragon electric guitars as an an official collaboration with Konami. At $12,500, it’s not exactly a flip for your average reseller. But with only 25 units being made to order, and a fanbase that treats Yu-Gi-Oh collectibles like they’re grail cards, it’s worth paying attention to.

Bear Walker Electric Guitars

If you’re not already familiar with Bear Walker, the short version is this: he’s one of the most respected names in premium, handcrafted collectible decks. He first picked up mainstream collector interest with a line of Pokemon skateboards produced in limited numbers with premium materials. These debuted in 2020 and would go on to resell for hundreds of dollars over retail, even up to today.

Last year, Walker’s shop began producing guitars with the same design philosophy: officially licensed, hand-crafted, extremely limited. Bear Walker first showed off a prototype of this Red-Eyes Black Dragon guitar at ComplexCon last October, and the reaction was strong enough that he moved forward with a full production run. “Probably the proudest of a guitar I’ve ever been,” Walker said at the time. “This thing turned out f**king sick.”

The guitar features Red-Eyes Black Dragon’s signature design hand-carved into the body, plus a glowing red eye that runs on a rechargeable battery pack built into the back. It’s a fully functional electric guitar, which is exactly the kind of detail that matters to serious collectors.

Who is Buying This?

Here’s where the resell math gets complicated. At $12,500, this is outside the budget of most resellers, and there’s no established secondary market for a $12,500 handcrafted guitar to benchmark against. You’re not looking at a clean 2x or 3x flip here.

What you’re looking at is a niche within a niche: a serious Yu-Gi-Oh collector who also has a deep enough appreciation for Bear Walker’s craft, and the budget to match. Red-Eyes Black Dragon is one of the most iconic cards in the game’s history.

Alongside Blue-Eyes White Dragon, it’s the card that defined the rivalry at the heart of the original series. Collectors who grew up with the anime know exactly what this dragon means, and a handful of them have the means to spend $12,500 on a piece that reflects that.

The 25-unit cap is the most important number here. Bear Walker’s track record shows that scarcity is what makes his pieces move on the secondary market. The Pokemon Series 1 boards were limited to 250 each and they still command multiples of retail years later. At 25 units, the Red-Eyes guitar is in a different tier entirely. If even one truly obsessed collector decides they missed out, they will pay a premium.
